If this team uses a premium pick on another QB, I am going to assume Jerry got $#%$ faced drunk and locked everyone out of the war room and sent the ticket in himself.

They started slow because the head coach shut everything down after having the 1 seed locked up and gave his players a nice vacation. The fact that this isn't the recurring theme of the day around here is pretty damning.

I think we weren't watching the same game yesterday. The game I saw, this Dak guy clearly put the team on his back, after the rest of the team joined him on the field in the 2nd quarter, and gave them the opportunity to win the damn game. And they would have if it wasn't for the clueless coaching staff. Their job is to put the team in a position to win and they clearly failed. If Red calls a running play on 2nd and 3, or calls for a fade for #88, we're all talking about how this Dak guy carried his team to a victory that they had no business doing so after that 1st quarter. Now THAT'S the game that I was watching.
Don't get me wrong...Dak played an awesome game yesterday, good enough to win. I loved the attitude & determination he showed on that 2 pt play. I loved how composed he was the entire game. I loved that 4 play 75 yard drive in the 2nd quarter to bring life back into the team. I loved the strikes he was throwing in the 4th quarter. He still didn't carry the team though. That Aaron Rogers guy, now he carried that team on his back. Aaron Rogers overcame 3rd & 20 with seconds on the clock. Dak got a ball batted down on 3rd & 2 on the final drive. Dak Prescott is one piece of an awesome puzzle that is the Dallas Cowboys offense. Hes not close to an elite QB at this point though. In my opinion he has all the mental traits of an elite QB, but lacks some physical traits to become that QB. I think he is the real deal, I just don't know how high his ceiling is. Despite similarities on the stat sheet, there was a major difference between what Dak did and what Rogers did yesterday.

No rookie QB has advanced his team to the Super Bowl. That includes ever single elite QB that's ever played or you could name.

Your conclusion based off of Dak's rookie season is premature.

From NFL.com:

"Dak Prescott hit 13 of 17 throws for 142 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion in his final three possessions."

Dak put his team in position to win. He can't be blamed for Rogers pulling off a brilliant 3rd and 20 throw on our secondary.

That very last drive though is where the great ones go for the kill. Maybe he has it in him. He didn't yesterday yet.

Comical. He was not put into the position to go for 'the kill'. His instructions were to play it safe & spike the ball. You can't say that he didn't have that killer instinct because his play proves otherwise.

Dak has been incredible this year and so far he's given us no reason to think he'll regress. In fact, I think he'll continue to improve. However, it is possible, other rookie or young QBs have had stellar seasons only to taper off their play the next year. Either way we need a solid backup in case of injury assuming that Tony is traded or cut in the offseason.

The Patriots have been investing mid level picks for Brady's backup for a decade and they've gotten good value back for them in many cases along with solid play when Brady's been down. It's hard to argue that their personnel formula in the last decade+ isn't the golden standard for the NFL.

As far as his future success goes I very well could be wrong, and would be very happy if i was.

As far as yesterday and the entire season however I stand my ground. I'm not grading him on a rookie curve. Compared to the elite QBs in the league he isn't there. He is in the really good category, and for a 1st year player you really can't ask anything more. No way is he on the Aaron Rogers level where you can be missing your X receiver, be so thin at RB you have a WR playing the position and still throw up 30+ points in the playoffs like it's nothing.

He has advanced intangibles for a 10 year vet let alone a rookie QB. Hes going to get better at reading defenses and making better decisions. He also has plus mobility. I just don't see the elite level QB accuracy & power out of him. Tom Brady can take a mediocre receiver and turn him into a 1000+ yard guy with his arm. Dak isn't going to do that. He is just a different style of player.

Prescott completed 67.8% of his passes this year. Brady completed 67.4%. This idea that he's not a very accurate passer is bizarre.

Further, because he can do things with his feet and provide a different look to a defense, he doesn't have to be Tom Brady accurate to be an elite QB.

You can't start slow in the playoffs . It was obvious Dak had the jitters.
I thought he looked jittery on that pass to Williams that was nullified due to the penalty. But that pass that bounced off Williams chest proved it to me. NOT! I have to agree with tm1119. It sounds like you are pushing your own agenda.

For those of us that aren't sold on Dak Prescott. It's a good insurance. He could be another RG3 or kapernick. I need to see a QB play for 3 seasons before I'm sold. I see a lot of people saying "we have our QB for the next decade". How can you be so sure? We better draft another QB just in case. Even if it does work out with Dak we'll need a backup.

or he can be the next Big Ben

Yeah, the Cowboys early drives were killed with penalties and drops. How idiots can spin that as Dak stinking the place up is beyond me.

They won't be selecting any of them.

I predict no QB's will be drafted by the Cowboys in April.
