It took 5 years to collect all those first round OL. We need to use FA to finish building the DL.

DLaw and Crawford look to be keepers, maybe one or two of the other young guys pan out. But they need a SDE and another DT pretty badly.

The can still draft DL, but it should be in addition to FA, not instead of

Spot on! We have to do both because we are in such a short QB window. All in, whatever it takes.

You didn't recall overspending for any high priced OL free agents.

Nate Livings was exactly that.

So I reminded you.

Those weren't high priced FAs. A 19m deal and an 11m deal are the only type of deals everyone here wants to sign. They have become gun shy because some mistakes were made in the past and only want to shop at the Bargain Basement.

Bring in stop-gaps. Draft well. Develop well. Upgrade the rotation incrementally. Maybe take a shot on a talented but troubled palyer if there's one to be had. Build the team the right way from the ground up. Don't risk cap dollars on premium players when you have to pay over market rate to bring them in. Just trust the scouts and your coaches to develop the guys you can get on the cheap. Sign your own. See how long Romo can play, and develop your QB pipeline behind him at all costs.

We couldnt have screwed the cap up worse and all we had to do was lose ware . A guy everyone is now saying Isn't clutch, what good are cap dollars if you cant spend them on a DL to help romo to go for it before it in maybe his last chance

They're for signing your own guys you already know can play in your scheme. And even then, you can't be paying huge premiums for players when their value is highest and expect to get a return out of them. You need to find guys who are at a discount relative to their ability. 2-3 small upgrades to the rotation spreads out the risk and lets you weave in your draft picks at the same time.

As for Tony, he's only got a few years, no matter what. We have to find a replacement for him in every scenario. I don't see the point of compromising the cap in the process. We need to be good at drafting and developing if we're going to get where we want to go, no matter what.

Sorry, I don't want to settle for stop gaps when we have the funds available to do better.

I don't see us drafting a qb high and qb's late 1 or 2nd usually stink. I say go for it and be agreessive and cool. Being scared is certainly one way but meh.

We definitely need to address the DL in the same way, it will not happen in one year but like was mentioned, Crawford and DLaw are a good start with the young rotation guys like Coleman and Bishop.

Obviously we need to know who will be retained assuming Melton and Spencer are gone.

They need pass rush in a bad way, stability and an upgrade at 1 Tech DT assuming Crawford indeed is the 3 Tech as we go forward.

Obviously LB questions loom as does S and CB upgrades assuming there are indeed defections in free agency or cuts.

Hopefully, they can have another solid draft and free agency period, so if nothing else we can say the pass rush and DL is improved and back end solidified.

All that being said, I would still like some OL consideration (RT or LG, Depth) and perhaps RB upgrade if indeed Murray is not retained but we do have limited resources so they will have to make sound adjudications once again.

Both got a lot more than I expected.

I don't think anyone was happy with the money used on Nate Livings.

And he proved to be an awful signing.

Not Marco Rivera in terms of money, but the team still paid a lot and got almost nothing in return.

Inconsequential in the big picture and they started a lot of games for us. It wasn't like they were blocking anyone.

Take that elsewhere. The past 10 years haven't been bad.

I'm not with the woe is us(past 20 yrs)) cowboys fan crowd.

Ahhh, the young fan.

Past Cowboys glory might as well be a fable to them.

Turnovers arent luck, despite our defenses not being good theres a reason they have had a high number of takeways the last 2 seasons

Just because you have money doesn't mean you should spend it unwisely. We have a whole roster to fill out and still have some dead money issues to sort through.

I'm not gonna act like the cowboys have a berth right to Super Bowl greatness just because of the stars on the helmets.

You said you've been waiting 20 years on a defense? Cowboys were #2 in 2009 in points allowed.

Woe is us

Why do you automatically assume I want to spend it unwisely? I have looked at all the scenarios and have come to some differing conclusions, but that doesn't make me wrong.

Dallas fans have become conditioned to fear the salary cap like it is the boogey man, instead of understanding that it's just simple math that can be manipulated as needed.
