We Could Easily Lose Tomorrow

Some fans approach Cowboy games with caution, wary of past disappointment. They ration their hopes and dreams with the knowledge that things can go south in a hurry in the world of sports.

Others approach games with sunny enthusiasm, certain of success. The Cowboys won last week...and the week before...Hey...it's been 8 straight wins. Why should Sunday be any different?

There isn't a right or a wrong...no moral high ground to either approach. You are the king or queen of your own fandom.

But there is one kind of fan I find irritating...and there are more than a few on this forum.

They lack rationality to their optimism and you see them every week in the game thread. It's early second quarter and they are shrieking, melting...

"How can this be happening? We are so much better."
"Garret is an idiot. We should be ahead by two touchdowns right now."
"These guys didn't set their alarms."
"That play right there...we lost the game right there."

Some of the fans that carry themselves with real tough-guy machismo during the week can sound like little girls before half-time.

Here is the reality:
We could EASILY lose tomorrow. There are a hundred scenarios where we end up with a loss and the Ravens leave the stadium still undefeated all-time against our Boys. We could play hard and still lose.

The Ravens have won five games and lost four *close* games. Could the Cowboys blow Baltimore out, sure, but that would be the first such loss for them this season. Indeed even last season when the Ravens went 5-11 they were close in every game until towards the end of the season when they had nothing to play for.

If you want to be optimistic....great. Just don't forget that NFL football games aren't easy, and don't forget how often they are decided in the last five minutes.

My prediction:
Cowboys 23
Ravens 19

Wait a second...

Now play that non reasonable tune again...

(it is what it is...success)

The engine that drives this team, is it's offense. Has that broken yet?

Let’s take a break from the discussions of whether Tony Romo helped or hurt with his statement, who really should be the starting quarterback, and if the weak schedule played so far has made the 8-1 start for the Dallas Cowboys a bit of a mirage. Instead, let’s focus on the fact that this team has already done some phenomenal things. And not just good this year. We are talking all-time numbers.

So let’s take a moment and get pumped up about what has happened so far, and the promise it holds for the rest of the season with a compilation of notable facts and figures about the 2016 Cowboys...

Oh, and with a defensive team like the Ravens - want to stack the box, well...

Ezekiel Elliott with 8+ defenders in the box: 93 carries for 427 yards (4.6 YPC) and 5 TDs.

You can easily lose any week, the NFL is an any given Sunday league. All it takes is a turnover or a couple of stupid penalties to cost you a game.

Second person, you...meaning anyone. No, I won't have any game time blunders, but as to consistency - this Cowboys team has penalties but haven't fumbled the ball...yet. One can't fear their way into blunders. Those just happen.

But this Cowboys team is disciplined and well coached.

This is an extremely tough opponent. Each game presents a different challenge. My logic says we've overcome tougher situations but the NFL doesn't work with this way. We're banged up and their strength matches up well with ours in the run game. Their Oline has holes but we lack a consistent pass rush. I'm also concerned about our banged up secondary but this team has been resilient.

To the OP, this is why I don't like a live game thread. On the flip, the doom and gloom chicken Littles are just as irritating.

The Cowboys could easily lose? The Cowboys are one or two plays away from being undefeated. They lost their first game by one point when both rookies were starting their very first game. They are on a 8 game winning streak.

Yes, of course the Cowboys could lose. But easily?

Give credit to the Ravens if they should win. They earned a very tough fought victory. I've seen what a team on a mission has looked like in the past and I can tell you, the Dallas Cowboys are a team on a mission. We haven't seen the best yet.

Agreed...and their receiver group includes: Wide receivers Mike Wallace and Steve Smith...and that doesn't project fear after the quality receivers the secondary has already faced, including last week. Their starting running back for this game is not a trail blazer as well.

Games Cowboys could have EASILY lost this year that they won late in the 4th:

Commanders
Eagles
Steelers

The Eagles took us to OT and the Steelers scored on the fake spike play leaving Dallas just 42 seconds to get a TD, which they did.

We could EASILY be 5-4 right now.

And we could EASILY be 8-2 after tomorrow.

However it should be recognized looking at all factors it's FAR MORE LIKELY that this team in 9-1 when the game is over.

Game is not going to be close in the end. Ravens are not in same league as the Cowboys. Remember when most were scared about the Bengals, and we all know how that turned it.
