Wrong. I specifically said "There isn't a right or a wrong..." in optimism or pessimism but irrational exuberance combined with game-day meltdowns grates on me.

I even provided specific examples of the annoying drivel I see each week in the game threads... lest anyone misunderstand me.

Yet even with all that assistance you still couldn't hold onto the ball.

And I do notice that you are already retreating and re-framing with your protective "If we win the turnover battle..."

I'll trust Zeke to have a better grip than you've demonstrated here.

Not wrong. At best incomplete. I spend gamedays with friends/family at my house or at the sports bar most games. I don't see the game threads but people hanging on every play and overreacting is a big part of the fun for me. Pregame smacktalk is why you show up early.

Different strokes for different folks but I find such things excellent opportunity for banter. As long as it's done without malice and you show a willingness to get as good as you give then I find everyone has a good time. People care about their teams a lot. I see nothing wrong with them reacting to the moment passionately.

The people I don't like are the angry drunks but they cannot fight worth a flip and rarely do people take their side.

I pointed out our lack of turnovers as context to my expectation as to how we will perform in that regard. I did not leave it open.

I have expectations from the team as a fan. I expect them to come out andplay hard, play smart and play with fire. I expect the coaching staff to have them prepared, to make adjustments and make logical decisions. So anything can happen on Sunday. When they were losing against the Steelers, I didn't have a problem because the effort was there, the preparation effort and the coaches made adjustments and made logical decisions. The same could happen against the Ravens, but too often with this team in the past 10 years...we've beat ourselves and/or the coaching has let us down.

Sometimes opponents play better than normal, sometimes they don't.

There's no such thing as a gimme game. Even lowly Cleveland could have beaten this team if the Cowboys had not taken them seriously and put together a good game plan. So far this team has not been guilty of underestimating opponents, and I don't think they'll start tomorrow. They'll be well-prepared and I like our chances, but, like I said, ain't no such thing as a gimme, not in this league.

every game from here on out will just get harder and harder but I think this cowboys team is pretty and it will take a lot for them to be beaten.

I hope I'm not a jinx, but I'd be a whole lot more cautious if the game were in Baltimore. I'm feeling pretty confident myself... 30-13, good guys.

I'm much more concerned about Washington on Thursday. Much.

Games Cowboys could have EASILY lost this year that they won late in the 4th:

Commanders
Eagles
Steelers

The Eagles took us to OT and the Steelers scored on the fake spike play leaving Dallas just 42 seconds to get a TD, which they did.

We could EASILY be 5-4 right now.

And we could EASILY be 8-2 after tomorrow.

However it should be recognized looking at all factors it's FAR MORE LIKELY that this team in 9-1 when the game is over.
This is what I am hoping for . We need to get on top early, make them play from behind.
Steelers got us down early and it led to what we saw , a close shootout.

lol. Game day threads are to be avoided at all costs. Absolute nonsense. Emotional extremes from play to play. Post game threads are the best. Everything is settled and it can be debated in a slightly more reasonable environment. Sometimes.

"Sometimes"?,, Sometimes game day threads are pretty much the only 'real time' way some people have of keeping abreast of the action as it unfolds(I've been stuck working/rolling down the road many times in the past),,,
That's why I'm such a @Clove FAN!
now, when I'm on the couch / sports bar power drinking my COWBOYS to victory, I usually average 15-20 pages behind the posts cuz ,#1, I've got the game on right in front of me and #2 I'm way to busy power drinking my COWBOYS to victory to navigate the rapid fire posts, thusly averaging 15-20 pages behind:thumbup:

Some fans approach Cowboy games with caution, wary of past disappointment. They ration their hopes and dreams with the knowledge that things can go south in a hurry in the world of sports.

Others approach games with sunny enthusiasm, certain of success. The Cowboys won last week...and the week before...Hey...it's been 8 straight wins. Why should Sunday be any different?

There isn't a right or a wrong...no moral high ground to either approach. You are the king or queen of your own fandom.

But there is one kind of fan I find irritating...and there are more than a few on this forum.

They lack rationality to their optimism and you see them every week in the game thread. It's early second quarter and they are shrieking, melting...

"How can this be happening? We are so much better."
"Garret is an idiot. We should be ahead by two touchdowns right now."
"These guys didn't set their alarms."
"That play right there...we lost the game right there."

Some of the fans that carry themselves with real tough-guy machismo during the week can sound like little girls before half-time.

Here is the reality:
We could EASILY lose tomorrow. There are a hundred scenarios where we end up with a loss and the Ravens leave the stadium still undefeated all-time against our Boys. We could play hard and still lose.

The Ravens have won five games and lost four *close* games. Could the Cowboys blow Baltimore out, sure, but that would be the first such loss for them this season. Indeed even last season when the Ravens went 5-11 they were close in every game until towards the end of the season when they had nothing to play for.

If you want to be optimistic....great. Just don't forget that NFL football games aren't easy, and don't forget how often they are decided in the last five minutes.

My prediction:
Cowboys 23
Ravens 19

I'm not in the metroplex so I too am limited several times per year to tracking the game rather than watching.

And yes...Clove's description play-by-play is the online equivalent of Troy Aikman or Brad Sham. Well....almost! :)

I think someone has been watching too much NFLNetwork. If we play like we have been playing we win. Baltimore is not the best team we have faced, Maybe the best team outside of the NFL east. NFL Network tells us that Baltimore D line is better than our oline. Ok , prove it. But they are 5-4 and 3 of their wins are against Cleveland and the Jets so unless we lay an egg we should be fine.
Correction. They lost to the jets.

I was listening to the radio and I think they were quoting Mike Malarkey (not too sure on that) ." If you win the first 5 Minutes and the final 5 minutes of a football game you win." Just posted this because you mentioned the final 5 minutes and that QUOTE really got me thinking and I think it's 100% accurate and it seems kinda bizarre

Didn't get that defensive TD I was fully convinced would happen today, or my score would have been closer to reality. Dang.

We played a spotless game or that would have been a nail-biter.

0 turnovers
0 plays permitted of more than 30 yards
And we were +90 yards in penalties.
