We could have had Justin Tuck

you know in hind site we would always draft the best guy...its pretty easy when you look back

Except that they replaced him with Reggie Torbor, who is another 255 lbs. former college defensive end who can't cover. He's exactly like Kiwanuka, except nowhere near as athletic or good.
OK, maybe I should have said, forced to put a LB who could actually cover on to the other teams' TEs. I only saw Ben Watson once yesterday, and Pierce interfered with him in the End Zone.

I did not mean to say we could have had Brady/gates/steve Jackson or cromatire. And I did not say we should have drafted Trent Cole or Colston. These 20/20 hindsights are pointless.

However, in 2005, we were drafting for defense like crazy. Remember we drafted four DEs on that draft. Tuck was rated as an early second-rounder and slipped to third round. I have no doubt we would have drafted Tuck if we had kept the pick.

This is fun, my turn, I'm still fuming over how Dallas passed on Jerry Rice in the 1985 draft.:)

Took Sherman Williams instead of Terrel Davis or Curtis Martin.

Drafted Kavika Pittman when Tony Brackens was to be had.

Took Roy Williams ahead of Ed Reed.

Shall we go on.....:)

If we had kept our 3rd round pick in 2005. However, we traded it for Drew Henson.

Dude is sick and would be perfect for a 3-4 DE.

Some people just don't get it.

Not to nit pick but I believe SF traded ahead of us to get Rice but I get your point. :D

Ahhh to think of the All-Star, 75th Anniversy Team, we could have had if only the people drafting had glasses that allowed them to see into the future.

Wouldn't life be grand?

The 49ers actually traded up right ahead of us and took Rice. We didn't have the opportunity to pass on him.

I know you're just pointing out how hindsight can be 20/20, we can even add Tom Brady on there.

But the Sherman Williams and Pittman picks were bad, as much of our picks during that time.

How many of you honestly saw TD or Martin being great pros back then? Be honest. I'll assure you there wasn't one person who even heard of TD prior to him being drafted and probably not many more, if any, knew who Martin was.

It's very easy, now, to say picking Sherman was a horrible idea instead of TD or Martin.

I knew this thread was coming.

Man oh man, the team we "could have" had.

Hindsight is a beautiful, magical thing....

The Yankees could have had David "Big Papi" Ortiz before he went to Boston

Sherman was a horrible idea regardless of TD or Martin. So was Shane Hannah and Kendell Watkins in that same round of that same draft.
