We escaped 0-2, barely

Chargers lost turnover differential last week against Wash but overcame.

Turnovers and penalties cost them yesterday. Throwing an interception in endzone and 2 TD’s called back due to penalties cost them the game.

Normally its us doing the stupid things that lose the game. I can't remember playing a team more snakebite than us......... but the best part was that 30 second scramble at the end where we could not get a play off b/c we had guys coming out that should have stayed.......clock malfunction..... Dak looking clueless...... settling for a 56 yarder. We tried as hard as we could to send that game to OT.

100%.

Just like you don’t run into a stacked box and Vea/Suh in Tampa, you don’t throw 50 times when you’re staring at two high safeties all game. Moore is having a good season so far.

What has been said about how you play football, for years and years? "Take what the defense gives you". Tampa's cornerbacks aren't very good, whereas their run defense is very good. So pass the ball against the Bucs and run the ball against the Chargers. Most teams will probably try to do that.

It's not a question of "if you throw 45 times a game you'll lose and if you run the ball you'll win", there is so much more to the game, can't focus on just a couple of stats and extrapolate that to a win or loss...

A few bounces either way, we could either be 0-2 or 2-0. I had us starting 0-2, so I'm happy. Game wasn't pretty but in the NFL, you just have to find a way to win.

This game proves what a lot of us has been saying all along is exactly right.

Focus on the run game = Win

Throw the ball 45 times = Loss

Hopefully this is an eye opener for the coaches going forward. Dak doesn't have to play great if you have a good game plan with the run game.

More like, have a more consistent kicker = WIN.

Zuerlein was injured, not surprised he had a rough start, but the winning field goal was well in the middle of the goal posts and would have been good from probably 65 yards. Let's see if he can keep a high percentage of kicks made, nice to be able to hit some very long field goals but it's vastly more important to be able to hit all or nearly off of the 40 yard and under kicks....

So far turnovers have been the difference.

In Tampa without them that game wouldn’t have been close.

And in LA the Chargers critical turnover provided us an opportunity to win the game.

I’d argue 1-1 is very fortunate.

This is the NFL. To be honest. Winning or losing close games is the difference. Blowouts and clear wins dont happen often especially between good teams.

My point about the kicker was to point out we didn't lose against TB because we passed mostly and we didn't win yesterday because we ran mostly. If the kicker made the kicks he was supposed to make against the TB we probably would have won and the kick he made to win the game yesterday was a very low chance to be successful yet he made it so we won.

I do want a more balanced offense but I don't think we can come to a conclusion about how wins and losses will be determined by more passing or more running based on what we saw in the two games we played so far.

Greg Zuerlin’s 56 yard field goal as time expired stamped out the forbidden start to the season we had feared. It also stamped out the horrid game clock Mgmt in final sequence in drive as Prescott led a 49 yard to set up the kick.

Chargers gifted us a turnover on horrid pass in the end zone and penalties thwarted scoring opportunities on 2 TD’s called back providing an opportunity for final winning drive .

Throughout a season you need games you probably shouldn’t have won. But we did just enough and took advantage . But the final kick bailed out an otherwise game heading to a loss.

We’ll take it. Avoiding 0-2 is huge. We hadn’t started 0-2 since 2010. Now we come home to 3 straight under our own roof and will be favored in all with only one( Panthers) with a winning record.

An 0-2 record would have presented many challenging issues and concerns moving forward. Now we can be more optimistic looking to be 5-1 or 4-2 at the bye instead of struggling to reach .500.
Chargers didn't gift the Cowboys anything. The Cowboys won because they were the better team. Period.

I’d agree the Cowboys are the better team. But without the turnover in endzone and penalties that cost them 2TD’s we most likely don’t even have an opportunity to win the game .

But it’s a good mark for a team especially on the road in an underdog role when you can come out with a win without your best performance.

Turnovers are part of the game the last time I checked. Just saying.
No doubt. #1 stat in the league. Usually cant lose the turnover differential and come out on top.

And why the game was more about the critical mistakes they made than a great performance by us. We’ll take it!!
