Knew this kid would be good, and he's doing pretty decently in St. Louis.

He catches the ball well plain and simple.

He would have been a great slot receiver for us.

He wasn't good enough to make the team then and he's not good enough to make the team now. Kid does nothing for me. Just another guy.

Gotta love him...what he lacked in size he made up for by being slow and making mistakes.

I agree. In fact it is quite the opposite. Amendola gave up on Dallas. He was not picked off the Cowboys practice squad. His contract with the Cowboys expired after the 08 season like any practice squad player. At that time he chose to sign on as a practice squad player for the Eagles. The Eagles didn't even feel he was worth keeping.

His 7.6 yards per reception is not impressive and hardly what I would consider as "doing pretty decently in St. Louis". That is not even half of what the current Dallas slot receiver averages.

Its his career, obviously he is going to look for his best chance to find work.

His 7.6 yards per reception are better than Bulgers what pedestrian 6.9 yards per attempt?

I think he would have been an interesting project, especially after the Stanback debacle but I'm very excited to see what Ogletree brings next year.

I don't want to make fun because you never know what's going to happen in a player's career. I'd be surprised if Amendola ever becomes anything special in the NFL, but it could happen.

But I think looking back at what might have been is an exercise in futility. There have been several players we've "given up on" who went on to solid careers elsewhere, and there have been several players other teams have given up on that have done the same.

Jay Novacek comes to mind quickly. The Cardinals allowed him to slip away as a Plan B free agent after five mostly mediocre seasons, and where would we have been without him?

Too slow without enough quicks. Fumbles. He's where he needs to be.

we all loved the little kid and wanted him to make good but he competed for a spot and wound up in the B league with the Rams--hope he makes it somewhere but we made the right move
