Knew this kid would be good, and he's doing pretty decently in St. Louis.

He catches the ball well plain and simple.

He would have been a great slot receiver for us.
The Cowboys weren't the only team to give up on him.

And he is on the worst team in the league.

Yeah the receivers on the bottom of our depth chart are much better than Amendola who caught 70 percent of catches thrown his way last year.

I really prefer the sub 60 percent completion rating most of our receivers have.

I think this team gave up on Rod Hill too soon. Mike Sherrad. Phil Pozderac. Clint Longley.

The history of this team is the one that got away.

Could have resigned him last year before the rams did.

I'd take him over Hurd easily...

I would have given him a roster spot over hurd as well.

I wouldn't.
Sam's a ST standout and has played well when given the chance to play as a wideout.

They were at least mediocre....

Still, there have been players who "flamed out" with one team and went on to at least be an adequate starter for another.

For instance, NT Shaun Smith showed about as much as Amendola as an undrafted free agent in 2003, enough for Dallas to keep him on the practice squad, like it did with Amendola.

Smith hasn't gone on to great success since he was released by the team, but he did have two very solid seasons as a starting NT for Cleveland, totaling 98 tackles, 2 sacks and 3 passes defensed.

I won't knock Amendola for what he did or didn't do with us because some players just take longer to hit their groove as a pro, if they ever do.

But I also will never play the what-if game because I don't like to live in that fantasy world.

Amendola would still be on the practice squad if he was here.

Sam Hurd can't see the field, and he's twice as good as Amendola.

Dont even try to argue against it, you know it's true.

Running 5-6 yard routes, he should be catching 80% of everything coming to him.

His ypc is horrible.....he is nothing special.

dont blame him for his ypc...

look at bulgers yards per attempt...

one of the lowest in the league.

Amendola had 20 first downs compared to Patrick Craytons 27. Crayton also began the year as a starter.

You can't make great art with horrible tools. Marc Bulger was a good QB, his team was crap. There is a difference.

Are you just going to scour the internet to find stats to fit your agenda? If you are going to post stats, post them all.

I never blamed him for his ypc, just pointing out why his comp % was so high.

The Cowboys completed 63% of their passes and averaged right at 13 yards/comp

Danny's catches averaged under 7 yards/comp and was at 70%. How is that in any way special?

Also, what does he contribute on ST's? Hurd & Crayton contribute a lot for the Boys.

Amendola is becoming an accomplished returner, and again you have to consider one team is the dallas cowboys, one team is the st. louis rams...

Romo v Bulger
Our O-line vs their O-line
Our receivers vs their receivers
Our system vs their system

Bulgers YPA was 5.9, his completion percentage was 56.7

Amendola did what he was asked to do within their system, and was good at it.

Not saying he is 1st round pedigree all of a sudden, but I'd definitely take him over hurd.
