too win the Super Bowl . Tony ,Witten , are the unquestioned leaders . This OL , Beasley , Williams , and dez will continue to get better . Can we build this defense up enough and make it happen ? It remains to be seen . But if it's going to happen it will be by 2017. I think our owner , coach and QB know this . This is one of our most important drafts coming up . We have too hit on getting a couple impact defenders and that should put us over the top. I expect an aggressive Jerry this offseason !

I agree with you with on Romo's window but I don't think life is over post Romo. Need to be grooming a young QB starting this draft.

Then again Romo and Jerry could be right when they say he has 5 years.

I don't even think they need a star. By the time Romo can't go anymore I think his team will be in a place to where they can allow for a Alex Smith type quarterback run this offense if the defense has progressed as much as we need it too. I think our window is bigger than 3 years.

I understand your thought but it's nearly impossible to win a super bowl in today's NFL without a top 8 quarterback.

Even guys like Flacco and Eli needed to play very well in their playoff runs.

romo will last at an elite level 2 more years.

they need to really start thinking about the future. its getting like aikman with this guy. gonna miss him when he's gone, and it'll be just a disaster if they can't get him a ring. although i love our chances in 2015. i really do. hold our heads up, cowboy fans.

Thing is that it may take 5 years to find the real successor.

I've said before that we should look under every rock (Draft, UFA) until we find the next stud, even if it means drafting a QB every year (doesn't have to be 1st rounder every year, of course). If it takes 5 years, so be it, but honestly, I just don't see any way Romo can play at this level for five more years.

With the way colleges play football now, the learning curve for a young guy is not necessarily that steep any more.

To me, you can never underestimate or ignore the most position on the field, and I never want to revisit the post-Aikman era ever again — ESPECIALLY with this good, young team that we're building.

The way Romo is playing right now he has just as long, if not longer, than Manning left in him. With that being said, I wouldn't be saddened if they were to draft a QB in the middle rounds.

My fear.... precisely BECAUSE of parity.. .there aren't any guarantees.... even the idiot TOXINS were in the playoffs in 2012 and the next season won 2 games. San Fran was in the SB and the NFC Championship game and then what? Why? Why do these windows fall apart? What's going on? Is it coaching? is it players? There are no guarantees..... if I knew we could keep the positive elements from this year together AND improve on D, then I'd be all gung ho about next season... but there are no guarantees. So I'll sit back and watch and cheer.... but I can't guarantee we'll do it next year....no one can.

You could be right. I personally don't think there's a blueprint to winning a Super Bowl. I think there is a blueprint to contend in this league and be a perennial playoff team. But I can't say that there is exactly a blueprint to winning a Super Bowl. You look at all the team that have won the past 10 years in this new NFL.....You have some with poor qb play(Ben R rookie year), you have some with great QB play in Aaron Rodgers and Brees, you have one with run dominated teams like the Seahawks......I think Russell this year has made GREAT plays and has performed like a elite QB but last year.....I can't say that he was elite.

Manning who? Peyton? There's talk of Peyton being done with football lol. Maybe Brady is a better example.

The majority of our team is young. We have far longer than a 3 year window as long as we don't make any rash moves.

I wouldn't go around thinking this team is doomed or anything. But I would like to have a young quarterback ready to take over in two or three years. I don't know if we're going to have a good enough spot in the draft this year, however.

I think Romo has 1 more great season. Not 3. It's next year or never. Superbowl or bust. Get it done. Go all in. 2 pass rushers and a lock down corner and we're odds on favorites imo. That's attainable in one offseason.
