We have failed to address 3 primary needs in FA

Pass rush (all apologies to Mayowa, but he's a role player), CB (so we could cut Carr & his salary), and backup QB. Not whining, but this is the reality. Which, sadly, locks us into these positions of need in the draft. Going to be hard to take the BPA with each pick with these glaring holes. C'est le vie, but after a 4-12 season, an increased salary cap, and possibility of +$9M more with cutting Carr, I expected more. Just cannot see why we were not in on 1 year deals for Mario Williams and Prince Amukamura at the reasonable salaries they got.

Maybe Long for 1 yr 2 mil.

That's why its been a bummer offseason. People keep saying the draft is coming. That doesn't really factor into this season. Still should be a fun season to watch if room stays healthy but we're not contenders this year and that sucks when you have a QB like romo.

True, but there really wasn't much of a backup QB class to pick from.

I do think there were some opportunities to get a decent pass rusher....whether it was Williams or Ayers or one of a couple others that didn't break the bank.

There really wasn't a great corner class either.....the problem has been most of the better ones are slot guys and we already have a good slot guy, the outside guys have been very average.

Its still early, DE will definitely be addressed with a draft pick or a guy like Hardy.

I'm actually OK with Kellen Moore as the backup but that is a minority opinion. If the plan is to take a QB like Goff or Wentz high in the draft they would wait to see if they get the player they want, then go after a veteran backup if they don't get the pick they want after the dust settles from the draft.

I'm not worried about the CB spot, the FAs like Robinson are going to be 3rd or 4th on the depth chart and this draft has a lot of good players available in the 2nd and 3rd round. I also think Olatoye is better than people think and will be a very good 4th or 5th CB next year.

Also I would bet the Cowboys could bump their offer to Leon Hall tonight and he would sign before Midnight.

Guess it's a good thing free agency isn't over yet then. Right?

I love FA but I'm glad Jerry didn't overpay. Maybe for Janoris, he basically got the same contract that Carr currently has. Cut Carr sign Janoris- Same price.

I was hoping for Pacman or Hall at the very least. I did want Long from the get with the thinking he may be able to get back to his 2010-2013 seasons. I always had the hope to bring Hardy back.

This is how I look at the 3 modes of offseason.

FA- (all pipe dreams) get depth at discounted prices and if their is 1 big FA that stands out, get you over the hump, go after him guns blazing. Vernon received 50+ million signing bonus for 7-8 sacks and not a game changer. What will DLawrence ask for? This year FA wasn't anything to cry over. worse value

Draft- Cream of the Crop. This is the only Day outside of the football season I cannot go to work on( I call this day off every year, should be legal holiday, nuff said... Franchise builder..... best value

June 1st cuts- Good players, cap casualty, normally 1 or 2 year deals at discounted price. 2nd best value

True, but VERY slim pickings. Maybe Leon Hall or Brandon Boykin, but I don't consider them outside CB starter material like Patrick Robinson borderline was.

Robinson would've played the slot here. He had his best season last gear playing in the slot

There will be more cuts later
Not likely a CB but there may be something

Need to pay closer attention to what is stated. The team acquired enough depth to have positions covered with veterans. The majority of upgrade, as is the policy in effect for the past five seasons, is to add top levels of talent through the draft.

That's just the way things are being done. There is enough top shelf talent on the team, to be able to do just this, and be a high level competitive.

They were never in the Williams or Amukamara sweepstakes.
Adrian Claiborne was their target ! Broaddus kept saying before F.A. opened, that he was their # 1 target. And their is an article about it up on blogging the boys.
Everything else is hit and miss at this stage.
I think it looks like we will be drafting our 3rd straight DE in the second round this year.

Moore for now will be the backup. Or if we go qb at #4, but most likely the 3rd qb will be later in the draft.
