With how they did the carries in yesterday's game, is there a need for Cook at this point??? Please give your thoughts, you have them iI know!

I would bet so. A lot of talk about how good the run game looked yesterday, but Zeke went 10 for 40 with a long of 9 yards. Dowdle went 8 for 26 with a long of 10 yards. There is a lot of room for improvement in this area and if we dont see it in the coming weeks I wouldnt be shocked at all if Cook gets his chance.

We haven't seen him play so how do we know what Cook brings to the table. If he has an speed left, then it would help to have him in there. I don't think we need Zeke and Dowdle. We need a quick shity back with some speed, like we used to have with Zeke and Pollard.

I would agree, and odds are that isnt Cook. Realistically Dowdle, Zeke, and Cook are all pretty similar players at this point in time. Its possible Deuce could be that guy who offers something different, but we still need to see it. My guess is that Jerry is working the phones hard around the trade deadline for a RB.

He is there for injury insurance basically. He will need to absorb the playbook and get into game shape to earn the call up.
Yep, he's never going to play unless there's an injury.

The fact that he's a) available and b) willing to sign onto a practice squad tells you exactly what the league thinks of him.

The running game yesterday was less than stellar, so it's not like the runner's looked too good to allow another player an opening.

I feel that as soon as they think he's ready, he may eat Dowdle's snaps. Dowdle averaged 3.2 yards per carry yesterday. That's not exactly irreplaceable. Elliott averaged 4.0 and scored a TD.

But we gave Vaughn just one carry yesterday, so I could see Cook, Elliott and Dowdle all being active instead.

True, but it was against one of the best running defenses as well.

I’m just not ready to declare the running game issues solved yet based on yesterday.

They are going to need the running game to make some plays for them at some point. Or grind out a win in a close game.

I doubt that. Jerry just spent a quarter of a billion dollars, no way his head repairs itself before the end of the season. On a related note, Johnnie Walker stock is up 30%.

Cook is essentially a more talented version of Dowdle in my view. If Dowdle doesn't do better than 3.5 ypc when the guy who is supposed to be old and slow bangs out 4.0 then Cook will be elevated in his place. At least he should be. Still I think Cleveland is a pretty good front 7 so not ready to bury Dowdle yet.
