We may never see Dalvin Cook

You may be right and I hope you are.

But what I’m saying is. The running game isn’t just fixed now. The improvement still needs to happen. So I’m not sure why the comment about Cook was made. If anybody thinks the running backs yesterday were impressive in any way shape or form. I would highly disagree with that.
I can’t disagree with you. They combined for 100 yards. You and I remember the the days of Elliot getting 100 by himself. Pollard almost getting 100 himself. A good run game should be closer to the 200 yard mark combined. Rotating fresh legs should have in theory let us run out the clock in the second half. The reason for a bell cow back is to have someone like Elliot to get those first 10-12 carry’s to get in the groove and know when the holes were opening up and when to make his break to get past or through the second level. I don’t think Elliot can handle 20-25 carry’s a game anymore. And I am not sure we have a RB with enough talent to do that. If we can get our group to consistently get 175+ total a game we will be where we need to be.

The 100 yards includes 30 from the WR’s too.

The RB’s only has 70 yards at less than 4 ypc.

They still have a ways to go.

But I was encouraged by the play of Guyton and Beebe for future outlook.

Yeah and we won’t always be going against a top pass rusher. The beginning of the game looked rough. But they quickly started improving. Things will get better. Glad to hear Fergies injury is a sprain.

With how they did the carries in yesterday's game, is there a need for Cook at this point??? Please give your thoughts, you have them iI know!
He should either replace Dowdle or Elliott. Both were terrible yesterday.

Me too. I liked watching Elliot. I miss the young Elliot. When he picked up that first down and did the feed me thing it was a blast from the past. But I watched his first run he looked good but rounded the corner and instead of spinning or running through him he tried to hurdle him. I watched him rubbing his thigh pretty hard and had a limp after for a minute. He is gonna have to curb some of those moves if he wants to stay healthy. Lol

I agree. Zeke actually looked good. Might be a bit lighter than he was before he left and seems to have fresher legs. If the Cowboys give a dozen touches to Zeke and Dowdle per game there may be no need to ever bring Cook up off the practice squad.

Terrible? Did you watch the game? Both Zeke and Rico did very well considering the Cowboys had two rookies on the line making their first start and the Browns have one of the best defenses in the league. They did not blow up the stat sheet, no, but the offense had enough balance thanks to them.

I guess, I don't value Cook like others after seeing him get smashed and fumble at some inopportune times. I think he's washed, but if he can give them 4 decent games and Zeke can give 4 decent games it'll give the team what they need.

He’s insurance. That’s pretty easy to see. If someone gets injured, we have someone to replace them with. If one of the backs isn’t performing, we can bring up Cook. The plan may be to use him later in the season to have a fresh back. Having him will provide motivation for the other backs because one of them could be the odd man out if they’re not getting it done.
This is what I am thinking too. Cook will get in a week on one of our call ups from the practice squad. They will see how he does and if he can help keep some fresh legs, they will just keep the hot hand at the end of the year.

IMO, he's Philly insurance. Barkley is prone to injury and this keeps him out of Philly's grasp. Some signings are "counter moves".

I was happy with how the RBs played week 1, but let's not pretend there isn't the room for improvement. One guy was 10-40 and one guy was 8-26 and that's in a game we were up big early where you would expect a lot more rushing yards. Personally I don't think Cook has much left, but if he does he can help.

We get to about week 8 zeke’s age will rear its ugly head and Cooks will have to fill that void.

Not true. Give him a couple weeks practice and playbook and we'll know how they feel about him.

Factor in the two rookie linemen, who will learn their positions to a degree of competency by mid season. They did not play poorly yesterday. Also consider Cleveland was a very good defense and the Dallas team's starting offense had not truly played together in live games scenarios.

While I dislike using this....it's a process that will work its way to max efficiency as time wears on. Frankly. I am really pumped about Guyton and Beebe. The potential is there for them to assimilate in this line and we might have meat eaters very soon.

1. Rico hasn't ever been able to stay healthy.
2. Zeke tends to wear down late in the year.
3. Big Duece isn't useful enough to warrant snaps.

So yes having a guy like Cook sitting there ready to go could be valuable later in the year. And if not then that is also ok. Hopefully he is also lending some veteran leadership to those around him while he's here.
