We may never see Dalvin Cook

Huh? As sucky as this RB group is, we’re going to need all the aid we can get. Even if Cook is as worn as Zeke, we’ll need whatever he can bring to the table. He may make the difference between us being the 32nd ranked RB group to us being the 31st ranked RB group in the league.

Sounds like you were impressed with the Cowboys running in Cleveland. I was pleased but not impressed. Davin represents depth at the position if it's needed due to injury. I'm glad we have him and he will be needed at some point in this long season.
Yeah I said nothing like that, you know me I'm not afraid to say anything on here

With how they did the carries in yesterday's game, is there a need for Cook at this point??? Please give your thoughts, you have them iI know!
What are you saying? Cook can't contribute to the running game?

Only a matter of time before he takes over the Deuce's roster spot.
There is still mileage on his frame...I'm interested and want 100+ rushing yards a game as a start for this group.

Yeah I didn't say that at all, I don't know where you all come up with stuff, if they have the rotation the way it looked, it may take even more time, guys will be fresh there won't be much of a chance someone gets injured

Not sure how we can come away from that game and say we may never see cook. It’s not like the run game was dominant, and in the 2nd half it was work trying to use the run game to milk the clock.

Maybe cook is washed but it’s not like he has such great competition and talent ahead of him that he won’t get a chance at some point- likely when he knows the offense

Guys did what they needed to do given the circumstances of the game. Both backs ran hard, got the yards that were blocked and maybe most importantly never set us up in 2nd and 14 by dancing around in the backfield. Brady talked about how important it is to stay away from negative plays ad nauseum during the game. It's boring but in a game where we believe both defenses are pretty good it's huge. Frankly I thought the 50/50 snaps thing was overkill. Rico Dowdle has done nothing in the league to warrant equal billing with Zeke. For all the talk over the summer how he was the best runner on the roster it certainly did not show up yesterday. I think in a tighter game Zeke probably plays the entire 4th quarter and breaks off a big one or two against a tired out defense. But A win's a win. We take it and on to the Saints.
Yeah but you are a Zeke homer.

He's a JAG at this point. I wasn't on the Dowdle train either and have criticized what they did at RB this offseason - eerily similar to what they tried in 2018 with the WRs. There is no reason to believe or think Zeke should get the bulk of the carries at this point. Splitting them seems like the best option and if Cook gets into playing shape and shows he's as good or better than the other two, there's no reason he won't get carries.

There are two positions I think can unravel us this year - DT and RB.

They’ll bring him in down the stretch and keep him fresh for then.

Cook hasn't looked very good the past 2 years either. I wouldn't expect him to play Savior to the run game this year

Past year. In 2022 he ran for nearly 1200 yards, 4.4 ypc and 8 TDs.

2023 he clearly regressed.

Cook is essentially a more talented version of Dowdle in my view. If Dowdle doesn't do better than 3.5 ypc when the guy who is supposed to be old and slow bangs out 4.0 then Cook will be elevated in his place. At least he should be. Still I think Cleveland is a pretty good front 7 so not ready to bury Dowdle yet.
Totally agree.

Cooks isn't only injury insurance. He also provides competition which motivates the younger backs to improve or be replaced.

Yet both were at the very least solid yesterday all things considered.. Playing a good defense, on the road, on grass with two rookie starters up front. And the DTs? At no point in time can I recall our guys being blown off the ball and our backers were kept clean and free to run and hit all day. Yeah.. both groups were fine in week one. Not saying it holds up all season.. both will face better competition as the season wears.. But both will have the opportunity to improve as well.

Terrible? Did you watch the game? Both Zeke and Rico did very well considering the Cowboys had two rookies on the line making their first start and the Browns have one of the best defenses in the league. They did not blow up the stat sheet, no, but the offense had enough balance thanks to them.
They were below average. We will not a better run game if we are to compete the top teams.

The Cowboys should note the 49ers strategy . They held out McCaffrey and fed his back up Mason repeatedly and he shredded the Jets who don’t have a bad front 7.

Dalvin Cook Zeke & Dowdle can form a nucleus to at least go 120 per game and take pressure off the QB and the passing game. Starting this week . Meaning Deuce goes inactive.
