With how they did the carries in yesterday's game, is there a need for Cook at this point??? Please give your thoughts, you have them iI know!
Sounds like you were impressed with the Cowboys running in Cleveland. I was pleased but not impressed. Davin represents depth at the position if it's needed due to injury. I'm glad we have him and he will be needed at some point in this long season.

Deuce? Deuce is going to get his opportunity, and he's going to be fantastic, and people are going to wonder what took McCarthy so long to give him snaps. He was never going to get an opportunity in the first game. He might not get a legitimate number of snaps until the NYG game, but it's coming.

Cook more likely is going to get signed off of our PS by another team that loses an RB.

I can't get on-board with Cook infatuation. History... whether recent or long-term... says he's just not good at protecting the ball. That's a bigger deal than I very often see anyone make of it.

A lot of teams are going to have a hard time running against the Cleveland Browns defense. They were the number-one defense last year for a reason.

Cook is essentially a more talented version of Dowdle in my view. If Dowdle doesn't do better than 3.5 ypc when the guy who is supposed to be old and slow bangs out 4.0 then Cook will be elevated in his place. At least he should be. Still I think Cleveland is a pretty good front 7 so not ready to bury Dowdle yet.
Dowdle plays ST.
If Cook still has some big play ability in him, it only makes sense that he takes Dowdles plays on offense. Dowdle plays ST and duece is put on the practice squad.

I mean if he shows he's better than the TBs we have as he gets into shape, why wouldn't we see him?

It's not like Elliott and Dowdle looked irreplaceable yesterday. They both kind of looked like JAGs.

Yeah, that was the expectation even before yesterday’s game.
Exactly what are you expecting from him after last season’s performance?

Hopefully there will be some dumpster fire teams with a good young back they’re willing to dump for cheap draft compensation come trade deadline!

Regardless, if Cooks goes to the active roster then things went terribly wrong!

Yes, when 1 back gets injured, Cook will be called up. They aren't going 20 games without losing a back to injury.

Guys did what they needed to do given the circumstances of the game. Both backs ran hard, got the yards that were blocked and maybe most importantly never set us up in 2nd and 14 by dancing around in the backfield. Brady talked about how important it is to stay away from negative plays ad nauseum during the game. It's boring but in a game where we believe both defenses are pretty good it's huge. Frankly I thought the 50/50 snaps thing was overkill. Rico Dowdle has done nothing in the league to warrant equal billing with Zeke. For all the talk over the summer how he was the best runner on the roster it certainly did not show up yesterday. I think in a tighter game Zeke probably plays the entire 4th quarter and breaks off a big one or two against a tired out defense. But A win's a win. We take it and on to the Saints.

I think Cook is activated when he knows the offense. They will want to see what he can do.
He’s a vested vet do if he’s activated for first game his contract is guaranteed. He may need to learn system but I’m guessing he’s insurance plus the fact that now you can activate him without guaranteed pay

The running game wasn’t very good yesterday.

They couldn’t run the ball consistently to kill clock in the second half.

The running game was just meh. Yesterday
Was the first time all the O-Line played together. They will get better. When you have a starting rookie LT going against one of the best pass rushers in the league it’s gonna make for a long day. Things will improve.

He’s insurance. That’s pretty easy to see. If someone gets injured, we have someone to replace them with. If one of the backs isn’t performing, we can bring up Cook. The plan may be to use him later in the season to have a fresh back. Having him will provide motivation for the other backs because one of them could be the odd man out if they’re not getting it done.

It's all about keeping all the backs fresh. MM has always been good not overworking his backs, Cook just become an asset later in the season.

With the team going cheap at RB this year, I see Cook as a player that will be significant later in the year - when Zeke starts to wear down. Cook will have time to get in game shape and learn the playbook until it become obvious that our game needs fresh legs and can start a few games in place of Zeke.
It is a patchwork of runners this year, that they will muddle thru till they draft a young back next draft.

I disagree, after yesterday's performance I would say our running game could use any help it can get............

You may be right and I hope you are.

But what I’m saying is. The running game isn’t just fixed now. The improvement still needs to happen. So I’m not sure why the comment about Cook was made. If anybody thinks the running backs yesterday were impressive in any way shape or form. I would highly disagree with that.
