Bill is grasping for straws as he sees doors that would normally be open to him closing at an alarming rate. Personally, I don't believe Bill would have been that successful if he didn't have Brady as his wingman. Since the two have separated only Brady has gone on to have success, whereas Bill is now bagging for college jobs to try and stay relevant in the world of football. Bill is not the answer to the Cowboy's problems..............

UNC will pay Bill Belichick more than Jerry Jones will pay any head coach.

It is still beyond me why anyone would want him as our HC. You have to get younger. New schemes. The old stuff just doesn’t work anymore. I’m sure he’d be great in a FO role but HC…absolutely not.

Early 60s.

There's no claim. He drove the team straight into the dirt as the worst in football.
Cowboys had some horrible drafts in the 80's. Thats not all on Landry. Amazing how the game "passing him by" coincided exactly with the demise of Danny White.

If they could hire top coordinators, then Belichick as HC would be good.

The problem is that to get the top young coordinators, team's have to sign one as Head Coach and make do with the other coordinator being a retread or unproven.

Moot point. Jerry Jones would never pay a head coach enough to get Belichick. If the Cowboys win 8 games this season the market for McCarthy will be too rich for Jones.

Brady had success for one season with a stacked team; and threw several interceptions in the playoffs
the next year he had a losing season in the worst division in the NFL
yeah that is a lot of success
I would say winning a SB is quite a bit of success! How many SB has this lousy organization won in the past 3 decades??????????????? LOL!

Coaching was not the top reason that the eighties Cowboys declined.

The Landry-Cowboys decline started when Bum Bright purchased the team.

Bum hated Landry & Bum went bankrupt. It was a toxic situation.

The roster was a disaster by the time Jerry/Jimmy arrived.

It was time for Landry to go in 89 but he was still a better Head Coach at that point than McCarthy is now.
I think if the early 80s teams had had Montana instead of White replacing Staubach, the result would have been different. But White failed (just too many turnovers) and then we failed to find his successor until Aikman. But I agree that we went from still have a team that could compete at the start of the decade to a depleted roster by the time Jerry bought the team. I also agree on Bright.

Please dear God, let them sign him now before Jerry has another chance to do something stupid.
