Ferguson has been a bit disappointing this season but I still think he has a bright future. I wouldn’t rush to sign him to an extension after this season, but he may force our hand.

Jake Ferguson is a top five tight end right now I don't know where this guy got his information or how you think there's a problem but there isn't and you're right the offense itself the play calling the design not good at all but yet somehow ferguson's numbers a....the names people mention on this site

you mean this guy LMAO fergs so far this year Better!!

If numbers presented in a grid with no context don't convince people, then nothing will.............. :muttley:

So many continuing to say Schultz couldn't block. I'll say it again: PFF analytics ranked Schultz as the #4 / #5 blocking TE in the entire league. (pass and run blocking). Saying he was a poor blocker simply isn't true, nor is it backed by facts. Folks made a judgment about him during his rookie year, but never re-evaluated their opinion over the years as Schultz gained strength, size, and experience.

:muttley::lmao2:dude seriously do research heck Furgeson's numbers are as good or better than Amari cooper and Furg missed a game this year..so please dont post because this OPPINION is wrong. Our offence is in shambles and Jake Ferguson missing a game this year still is within the top five to six tight ends...literally DS played all 6 Furgeson 5 hmm looks like JF is close to kittels and beter than kelce..
It is pure and simple our offense needs to get a little better but you're exaggerating and you didn't even provide any information like I did you're welcome.

IMO Ferguson is much better and much cheaper than Schultz and the latter matters in a cap world and in particular for an owner and dopey son who are so ignorant about the cap. Even ignoring scary and just from a talent and explosiveness perspective I really don't even think it is close between the two. Ferguson is our #2 threat in the passing game so he is going to be more closely watched by the defense. The whole separation thing is just taking on a life of its own over the last couple of years and IKMO it's just being used as a talking point excuse. When the QB doesn't throw to the open player there is no separation. Play after play we see on the replay there are open receivers that don't get the ball. That is part on Dak, part on the play calling, part on the in game adjustments and part on the OL so I'm not just blaming Dak.

The guy knew how to get separation. Yeah he wasn’t a star but he got open - more so than Ferguson who rarely creates space. Beasley is another example of a good route runner who was always open.

Dak desperately needs another pass catcher that can create at least a couple yards of separation in Zone or 1:1 coverage

Tolbert isn’t quick/explosive enough, cooks is old, Ferguson is typically blanketed and CD is being doubled.
Schultz has done nothing this year. I think Ferg is actually a better TE, he just hasn't gotten many opportunities.

Fergs is really good IMO. He just needs to be fed more. And Mike wanted LaPorta bad but he went right ahead of us and they still went TE. Typical Cowboys getting the 4th best at something
lol remember Michael Mayer and how so many wanted that jag?

One of the easiest calls I’ve ever had in the draft. Dude was a clear jag.

Schultz is not missed here.
I thought Schultz was more schemed for separation here, - and he does not have the run after catch ability that Ferguson does, and he certainly was not the
in line blocker Ferguson is.

- Oddly Schultz was targeted in red zone under Kellen Moore, but Ferguson under MCCarthy.. is not.

- As far as Ferguson, he is another that is being so mis-schemed here,
We don't run him in middle seam passes. We don't isolate him enuff, we don't use him enuff vs zone coverage.

- i dunno how this McCarthy offense has really regressed more and more- we're not even at the top of points score

- We clearly need a far more creative pass (and run) designer than what is being displayed with McCarthy.
You don't even see the QB (2nd in MVP voting in '23) .. nor last year's NFL leading WR

TE is the least of our worries.

What a dumb thread.

Schultz is one of the best TE's in the NFL at getting open.

It was the strangest thing I ever saw when I saw people on this site proclaiming that getting open wasn't that important.
