We need a Kicker

Give him another 2 or 3 games.

I’m sure the wind got hold of that 50 yarder. Or maybe the laces were in. No reason to worry, just look at his college stats!

You're not reading what I wrote. If he just "blocked it out" and kicked like normal, he would've been kicking a pile of bodies with McBriar on the bottom buried by Bengals.

No, I got it, Im just saying that I dont see an experienced kicker doing that in that situation. You have to trust the guys around you and do your job, if they get to McBriar then so be it.

It was the first time he kicked in a game in two years. I'm sure he was a bit amped. It's okay to give him a couple games to get things ironed out.

We will just have to agree to disagree. I'd rather have our punter live to punt another day than get blown up in the first preseason game because "so be it."

How long are we going to suffer through Buehler before his fan club stops making excuses for him? He will never be good at kicking FGs.

An overreaction thread stemming from the first preseason game? Shocking!

DB misses a 49 yarder when - out of necessity - he rushed the kick.

I say we kill him - slowly

From what I saw live in Canton, the 49-yard kick was rushed because the protection was completely blown. He had to get the kick off or McBriar would have been tackled, literally. That's how blown the blocking assignments were on the left side.

EXACTLY!!! I noticed that too. Poor protection if you ask me. Buehler forced that ball causing him to hook it. Buehler had to have been eying the rush in front of him. I know I would have been.

Thank you casmith07 for a keen eye. But you know how things go in here. One bad kick and it's time to move on. If only he would have been perfect.

There was a point in the 2nd half where we punted from the 36 yd line. Why in the hell wouldn't we try a 53 yarder there?...especially when we're trying to see what we've got in this guy.

Well, at least you know when the preseason has started.

First preseason game is definately too early but while some people see nothing but 3 out of 4, I gurantee you he isn't happy with what he did tonight and neither will the coaches be even if they give the usual, "Everything is fine." to the press.

I call it The Buehler Miscalculation.

Jerry is playing with fire and the longer we wait...the thinner the choices we'll have for a true field goal marksman.

There is nothing more demoralizing, defeating, deflating as ending a drive with a 28 or 38 yard field goal attempt shank.

Buehler is a great kick off guy. He's not going to be a great field goal specialist.

Probably because the left side of our line was getting blown up, as has been discussed in this thread already.

It also gave the special teams unit a crack at pinning the ball at the one yard line, which they did successfully.

Got to love the overreaction after one preseason game. If it continues throughout the rest of preseason then we can worry about it.

The overreaction or the kicker? I got a stack of century notes says the overreaction will definitely continue.

Most likely it will.

Just thought I'd fill you guys in. Apparently the ball wasn't hung wide left. What happened was the goal posts saw the ball blazing at it and was afraid of it so it quickly jumped over 10 ft to the right.

This is more plausible than anything I've seen MarionBarberthe4th post.

Good point...McBriar certainly needs the practice :bang2:
