We need a Kicker

Got to love the overreaction after one preseason game. If it continues throughout the rest of preseason then we can worry about it.

If it continues throughout preseason we wont have to worry about it, because they'll probably get another kicker.

I still think that right now its just classic CZ overreaction. He missed one kick and didnt spray the ball around. If he hooks a few thats something they can work on. If he's missing them all over or kicking them 5 feet off the ground, thats more of a concern.

You're not reading what I wrote. If he just "blocked it out" and kicked like normal, he would've been kicking a pile of bodies with McBriar on the bottom buried by Bengals.

:lmao:

Dude, that was pretty funny

especially if you visualize a bunch of bodies flying through the uprights.

A little more concerning to me was what he did on the one PAT attempt, which no one's mentioned. The ball looked like it had been shot out of a cannon, but he almost hooked that one to his left also, like some of the others. The PAT attempt in particular looked like he just had an incredible amount of adrenaline pumping.

I'm worried about kicker, too. And I didn't see anything tonight to make me feel any better about it.

The team's supposed to have a plan, and I'm sure they do, but right now it looks like a big weak spot.

I call it The Buehler Miscalculation.

Jerry is playing with fire and the longer we wait...the thinner the choices we'll have for a true field goal marksman.

There is nothing more demoralizing, defeating, deflating as ending a drive with a 28 or 38 yard field goal attempt shank.

Buehler is a great kick off guy. He's not going to be a great field goal specialist.
Kickers will always be available. Houston has two quality kickers in Brown and Rackers. One of them will not be there in a month. Relax dude there will be kickers available if Buehler doesn't work out.

why cant they get an experienced field goal kicker to kick field goals...

I am not willing to give up on him yet, buy those kicks tonight looked bad. I dont know if he was just pumped up or if he was watching the rush or what, but he was not hitting the ball clean.

Lets give him a couple more preseason games and see if he works it out. If he is still kicking in preseason game 5 like he did tonight, then it is time to worry.

I'm not gonna condemn him after one preseason game, but I'll ask this - in December in Philadelphia in a close game, do you feel confident with David Buehler taking a 42-yard attempt late in the game? I don't know if I do.

Yeah...it's only the first game, and Beuhler is still learning.

Look at the positives:

Beuhler is one confident/cocky kicker. Many people say that half of a kickers game is confidence, and Beuhler is chock full of that!

Also, Beuhler has the leg of Superman, and this is the first time he's actually been coached on technique for kicking field goals. He has done very well in training camp thus far, and is continuing to improve. This game will help him make adjustments and continue his progression.

Last but not least, he went 3/4 today and his only miss came off of a rushed kick that was a 49 yard attempt. He shanked the ball after a botched snap and a slow hold. More experienced kickers may have been able to adjust, but he isn't there yet. I don't think that's much of a negative for someone who is just learning how to kick FG's.

As many of us have already stated, this was only the first preseason game. We still have 4 more games to evaluate him. I see no need to worry at this point.

why is it a troll post. he barely made a 32 yarder and completely shanked a 40+ yarder. all his kicks were curving just like Folks were last season.

Plus he barely squeaked in an extra point.

Learning? What else could he possibly learn? His job is to put the ball through the uprights, it's not rocket science. :) I'm just ribbing you, so don't get uptight.

I hope he is the savior at the kicker position, but I have my doubts. We'll see how it goes in the preseason. If he's still pulling everything to the left, at the end of preseason, I'm sure the Boys sign a vet and Muscles can still handle kickoffs.

Jerry please spend the money to pay for a kicker

He did. Remember Mike Vadnershank?

We don't need a kicker. You need patience.

if in the next game the same problems (not talking about the 49 yd attempt to miss McBriar) then we need to worry. Right now its all BS.

This is definitely a troll-like post. Not explaining your rationale or anything, just creating something sensational

The game was explanation enough....:bang2:

Good point...McBriar certainly needs the practice :bang2:

The one place most players can make the team is on special teams. Punting lets you see the coverage units, and that is how players make the team.

There was a point in the 2nd half where we punted from the 36 yd line. Why in the hell wouldn't we try a 53 yarder there?...especially when we're trying to see what we've got in this guy.

Work on coffin corner punting in a gametime situation

Trying to save a roster spot and a vet kicker doesn't need preseason games anyway.

So if the kicker misses 1 kick from 49 in his 1st outing we panic and rush out to get a kicker? You guys are too funny.

Dallas may have to look at brining in a kicker but it is not going to be based on 1 kick in the 1st pre season game. Some of you need to get a grip
