We need a running back

Robinson and Gibbs would be luxuries. The Cowboys need to improve their offensive line first. Pollard is a top 10 running back.
Having another stud running back could put them over the hump and could save the season if Pollard goes down with an injury.

If Robinson is gone, and I'm pretty sure he will be, look at Israel Abanikanda in the 3rd. That dude is going to be a beast.
How about we improve our line with the first two picks then draft Isreal with the third.

That would be like passing on Lamb or Parsons. I would also consider taking Gibbs if Robinson is gone.
Lamb and parsons didn't last until damn near round 2. If Bijan is what yall say he won't be at 26

Yes, but not in the 1st round.

Later rounds or a FA will suffice just fine.

Zeke won't be hard to replace.
Yeah, if we used a franchise tag on our RB that would normally mean we plan to go later rounds or FA for RB2

I'm not sure in the history of the league a team has used a franchise tag on a RB AND drafted one in the 1st round that same year.

Doesn't completely rule it out if its crazy value, but it kind of does not make sense otherwise.
Franchise tags are for starters, obviously

I wouldn't be mad if Robinson is there and he is the pick,,, But, if Torrence is still there, I'd take him and wait until later to get a RB. I'd love to get Izzy later in the draft... Guy is going to be special if he stays healthy.

Devil's advocate.
IF Robinson is there at 26 and Dallas takes him. Dallas can rescind the franchise tag on Pollard and let him walk. Replace his 3rd down production with a later pick.

There's over 30 decent backs in this draft.

People forget about guys like Corum and Tucker.

There'll be a run on RBs and TEs in round 2.

I get it. And I know they "can" do that, but without any NFL snaps yet for Bijan, I doubt they would.

Depends. If he's still productive after his 5th year option, you franchise him, or possibly sign him to a reasonable deal, if he's willing. You cannot foresee how long he will last. Yes, I know, most don't last long, but looking at his build, he may be one of the few 10 year RBs.
Aaron Jones has played well into his second contract. But they have have madr him a 250 carry plus guy

Listening to Bobby Belt roasting Zeke this morning. Maybe the Cowboys need to stay away from drafting a running back in the first round.

Charbonet or Gibbs in two (probably require a trade up) would also be good

It breaks my heart to say it but there is a slim to none chance Robinson slides to 26. I don't know if I would take Gibbs at 26 but I would take Charbonnet at 58.

Quick, name for me a team in the last 10 years that draft a TB in the first round and it put that team "over the hump"?

I'll make it easy for you. None did. Because the ROI on TBs isn't there. So no, I don't think Robinson suddenly makes us a SB team.

There are a lot of ways to skin a cat, Having Robinson or Gibbs could very well help them win.

Are there?

Again, name for me a conference champ that invested a high first round pick or a massive contract in a TB that carried them to a conference champ game in the last decade?

There's a reason. Because many teams have figured out if you invest your OL, you can build a quality run game without a significant investment in the TB position. Take an OL at 26 (I hope there is one there) and then find that TB in the middle rounds. Makes way more sense than spending 26 on a TB, or worse, trading up to get a TB.
