I never make threads, but this is what I thought throughout the game. Crayton is an excellent #3. Austin and Hurd are 4s and 5s and even maybe an ok 3rd if Crayton is missing, but if you double TO and Witten, we need a #2 that looks like a #1 when guys are getting doubled. Terry was that guy which is why I held onto the thought that he might recover, but we are not the best team in the NFL w/o that type of guy.

I think Austin has a very good chance of being that guy.

He's just coming off of his ankle sprain and he's looking pretty good.

Crayton is miscast as a #2.

Hopefully the light has gone off for Austin. Now that he has made big plays in back to back games, maybe Garrett will put him in the game plan more and Romo will look for him more.

You're mixing up Austin and Hurd. Austin is coming off a knee injury (mcl sprain).

of all the problems on this team, this ranks somewhere after Jerry needing a new facelift. Crayton was more than fine today, as was Austin for their respective roles.

And after TO's moaning and crying session after the game about not getting the ball enough after an 18 target and 2 rush attempt afternoon, I'm not sure he would put up with another WR taking away from his targets.

We just need our $3 million dollar coordinator to earn his salary.

I would love to add Roy Williams tomorrow.

But even then, I'm not sure that's the move that puts us over the top.

Offenses struggle from time to time. Any great offense does. Just adding more and more weapons doesn't necessarily change that. At some point, the defense is going to have to win us games. That's the case for any Super Bowl champion. Our defense must rise to that level if we're going to hoist a Lombardi.

That's not to say our offense isn't without some problems. They exist. And another dynamic wide receiver would certainly help things. But no offense is bullet proof. We're not going to score our way out of every game.

This is the most truthful post of the day. I'm sick of trying to sell Crayton as a #2 or dream that some undrafted FA who really has proven nothing is the man. Defenses around the league have figured out they can slow down Owens and Witten and really, we have no other threats on the outside. Crayton and Austin scare no one.

Give Austin a bit of a chance - that is two weeks in a row he has showed up when we needed a big play. He is talented but was green as heck when he first got here. He always had the size and speed but it now looks like he has developed hands and is learning some of the nuances of playing the position.

When you already have TO and Witten, you don't need an upper echelon #2, but it'd be nice to have some more big play potential than what you get out of Crayton.

lol Our "#2's" stepped up big today. They played well.

Having a great Number 2 I doubt would have made much of a difference.

The biggest thing that would have helped us today is giving it to a guy we already have on the roster. #24.

It actually took until late in the game before we started looking for Austin and Crayton much.

Most of the rest of the game it looked like we were trying to force it in to TO.

Thanks for injecting some sanity to this thread. Crayton had 7 catches for 87 yards. Witten had 7 catches for 90 yards. Miles had 3 for 45 and a TD. We had absolutely no problem getting to the ball to our secondary WR's.

We just had an overpaid and overhyped offensive coordinator that completely lost his composure and a defense that couldn't stop anyone.

You don't think having a Roy Williams or any legitimate WR that the defense has to account for would of made a difference today?

Your telling me the Skins would of been content double teaming Owens and Witten and leaving Torrence on say a Roy Williams? Nah....A legitimate 2nd WR would make all the difference.

I'm going to disagree here: I firmly believe Philly's defense is better than washington: and we torched them: why? Because the oline blocked their butts off and Romo had time to find them. But the foreskins were all jacked up as usual: (they'll lose to Philly next week: guaranteed) and Romo didn't have the time or TIMING to do what the offense calls for. The receivers are fine IMO. But when both interior lines get dominated by a more MOTIVATED opponent. You lose. Every time. Case closed. IMO.

it's not the point. The point is the Skins were able to take their best DB's and double them up on Owens and Witten and still feel comfortable with their 4th and 5th corners on our 2nd WR.

Just shows how little respect teams have for Crayton. They will let him catch 8 yard routes all day if they can stop Owens and Witten because they know Crayton is not going to beat them.

It would help. So would a number of things. I just don't think starting a collection of wide receivers will make all the difference though. There are some inherent flaws with this team that I've yet to see them work through (Romo's turnovers; Garrett panicking; a defense that stinks from time to time). Adding a Roy Williams is a band aid, but not a fix to those problems.

Thats our problem, A number 2............................................

What is the problem on this Board........................................

WE need a solid D.

we need to sack the QB we need to stop the big play we need to stop the stupid Defensive penalties

Thats what we need.....We needed that last year and the year before that and g-d knows we need it this year.........................................

Or were going nowhere....

we have scored many points with this offense..but the problem our D gives up just as many as we score...........................Dont worry next year we will score. Your Roy, or Boldin or whomever star is out there....but thats not going to make this Defense any better trust me........

Agreed, if we don't fix the defensive coverages and the run defense, we will get beat.

Romo's TOs are a little bit overblown on this board. He makes some plays and gives up some plays but that is probably just part of his game that he may never be able to eliminate.

Garrett has had a few bad games but I still think he is quite good overall.
