Writing this year off was a statement made out of frustration and I was wrong to say that. If Parcells proved anything with the 90 Giants is the game must be played. It's just the make up of our O is terrible. For instance, a poster pointed out that Glenn leads the league with yards per catch and said that I don't know football. O.K great Glenn leads the league in yards per catch but how many catches does he make? Irvin pointed out what a number 1 reciever is. Glenn does not fit it but T.O. does. Now if Parcells doesn't want T.O. fine but we sure do need someone like him.
What will make this team great is having a dominating O-line. That's what made the Cowboys teams of lore so good and hopefully it will be the foundation of our future success. Our early-90s team is the best I have ever seen and the reason why was because the front 5 would humiliate, dominate, demoralize and in the end, toy with opposing defensive fronts. After 3 quarters of Big E, Tuinei, Nate and Stepnoski (along with Gogan, Gesek and Larry Allen at the end) destroying the opposition, the 4th quarter was ours. That's why Troy rarely had to engineer any late game rallies. T.O. certainly wouldn't hurt (at first), but if there were no protection and no running game to set up the pass, T.O. wouldn't put us over the top and in the end would probably revert to his destructive ways.

Do you know why the Lombardi trophy is called the Lombardi and not the Landry trophy. Because Lombardi beat Landry. For years Dallas was known as the team that couldn't win the big one. I am not ashamed to come in second but I would rather come in first. When I look at the better teams in the NFL I want to beat them. That's why I love Jerry and Parcell because they want to win. There are a lot of teams that are happy to just be competitive, they want to win. So if it sickens you that I want my team to win, I'm sorry but I do. When Jimmy Johnson came in he immediately won me over with this comment. They asked him about replacing Landry after he had been the coach for 29 years. He said something to the point, I have no problem coming in after him. If I am here for 29 years I would hope to have more than 2 SB wins. Jimmy is my all time favorite coach, in any sport.

I agree with every single word of what you have said here. I don't think T.O. is the one to help us reach elite status again.

Good post. Everyone in this forum knows I am one of about 10 people in here who seriously hopes to see T.O. as a Cowboy. I really hope it comes true. We need a player who scares defenses to death and DCs to death. We have no player like that on offense. T.O. is that player. Like him or not he can take over a game all by himself.

As horrible as our OL is....if we had T.O. we win this game today.

If we had a kicker and someone other than Sean Payton calling plays, we win.

I hate Zimmer as much as the GROZ guys, but its payton that really needs to go.

Parcells is a go for the jugular guy, but he is being handcuffed by a gutess OC--and its Parcells who signed off on the guy so he's cutting his own throat

BP has himself to blame

TO's not coming this year, whether we need him or not.

There's no one in the NFC we can't beat, and in fact I think we have a decent shot to run the table from here on out and get a first round bye in the playoffs.

Maybe....maybe not about no NFC team we can not beat. One thing is for sure. We can not beat any good AFC teams. Oh yeah we did lose to a good NFC team. The Seahawks.

Fact is we do not have ANYONE on our offense that scares defenses and DCs. We get Terell Owens and then we will.

Parcells is a lot of things but "go for the jugular guy"?

He's only even remotely aware of the forward pass. Going for the jugular to Parcells is Ottis Anderson up the middle, or LT sacking the QB and Carl Banks scoring on the fumble return.

No wait... A Matt Bahr 26 yard field goal. That's going for the jugular to Parcells.

I doubt that play was called with only Glenn in the route. It's always a good idea to have a receiver running an out, quick slant or hitch pattern on 3rd-and-2. If it's open, it's an easy first down, if not Bledsoe should look to someone else. I'm sure Payton didn't dictate to Bledsoe where to throw the ball.

Actually, that play has GOT to be thrown immediately or it won't work. He gets the snap and throws it STRAIGHT to the WR (in this case Glenn). The play itself dictates where the ball must be thrown. My problem is not with the call, but the fact that it had been run about 5 times before and, clearly, the DB was waiting on it. Had we FAKED that pass an sent Glenn straight up we would have gotten quite a few yards. For proof of this, simply check out the tape. The DB had been warned about the play and jumped the coverage. In fact, had the pass been right on target and not behind Glenn it might easily have been picked off.

He should have known before the ball was snapped not to throw it to Glenn. The DB was walking up to the line.

Living up in NJ, I watched Parcells his enitre tenure up there

The running game was always there but he had both his coordinators were more aggressive with the game on the line..a flea flicker, end around RB pass, fake punts, FG's

We dont have that now

Sure the O-line was great but When it came down to it wouldn't miss a wide open Novacek. If Irvin caught a pass 1 yard short you could not stop him. First of all Irvin wouldn/t run a pattern one yard short. Aikman wouldn't try to get into field goal range from our own 15 with 20 seconds to go by throwing into double coverage. I don't think I need to bring up Emmitt. There were plenty of games against the Giants, Skins and Eagles that Dallas had to pull out in the early 90's. I may be a spoiled Cowboy fan, having gone through the early 90's.

Exactly, He was betting on the play already. That's yet another reason not to have done it. Should've pump-faked it. I wonder if they could've audibled that out to Glenn? Anyone?

I think it would be great to see TO wearing stars on his shoulders. I dont like Parcell but I think if we did pick up TO; Parcell would be the best one to handle him. There are some more changes we need to make to the team but hey, its still been a great season. I like watching games where it comes down to the last couple mins of the game and Dallas has done that a lot this season.

Some of you guys are pathetic, really.

For real. Man. The Broncos are a good team and we hung in there with a frankenstein of an OL. We aren't that bad. Ya know..... if we won that game somebody would be saying Barber is better than Julius. Bledsoe patted the ball twice during the game. Biggest bunch of "Goldielocks" this side of the Missip.

And that game was juuuuussstt right. GEEZ!!!!!
