We need to defend Nelson/Cobb like we did Calvin/Tate

Marinelli should implement the same gameplan he used vs. Detroit. Have Carr be physical with Nelson at the line and have safety help over the top. Then have Scandrick shadow Cobb.

Nelson and Cobb ARE the Packers passing game. They had 98 and 91 receptions respectively, and the next closest Packer receiver was Davante Adams with 38.

Sleep on Jordy Nelson all you want, but he's every bit as dangerous as Calvin with Rodgers as his QB. I don't like leaving any of our CB's on an island with him, especially since he was 2nd in the league in 40+ yard receptions. He's a big play WR.

Cobb is the best slot receiver in the league. Scandrick needs to have the game of his life.

I tend to agree, though Cobb is a much better receiver than Tate. The biggest problems will come if Rodgers is able to get out of the pocket and make plays.

Unlike Detroit and Dallas, you can't take Jordy Nelson out of the game. GB finds a way to get him the ball, whether he's alone outside or in the middle of a bunch set or in motion. And he's just as dangerous on a short slant as on a deep post. The key is a little pressure on the QB and good tackling in the secondary.

Rodgers gets rid of the ball so quickly. That is what is scary. As well as Cobb and Nelson. Both are scary good. Dallas's defense better be ready to play Sunday. Not like the showing they last week in the beginning of the game. GB will not be as forgiving as the Lions.

Dont sleep on Devante Adams. Me personally i think this team needs to defend in alot of man coverage. Keep Wilcox back and allow Church to come up, Keep you Lbers defending run first and just get after Rodgers. His calf isnt going to be 100% If you force him to stay on the sidelines in that cold with some long drives its going to tighten up

I am not too concern about the type of WR(s) that GB have, we usually match up well with those types. It is the big, rangy, and able to out jump our DBs even when they are in good coverage that worries me. Thankfully we moved on from Megatron and only face the aforementioned speedy types. I am more concerned with containing Rodgers out of the pocket and Lacy running down hill.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off what the Lions did to us this weekend. That game was about as tough a game as we're likely to see in the playoffs, I think. That defense was straight-up great, and they had our excellent offense on it's heels the whole game. Caldwell had them ready to play, and had it not been for his gaffe in not going for it on 4th down, they might well have beat us. Honestly, if we get by GB, this last game was very similar to what I'd expect from a game in SEA, and harder than what we'd likely get if we had to play CAR at home.

Now, I think GB is a better team than the Lions were. It remains to be seen how they'll matchup with us and whether they'll be as ready to play as DET was. I guess I'm just saying that I don't think it was the case that we weren't ready to go last week. I think we were taken out of our own plan because they out executed us early, and we got back in because we're better at sustaining the level of focus required than they were for four quarters and because we had the better QB play, overall.

As usual, the best pass defense is a good pass rush.

The problem against Green Bay is that they execute the quick slant better than anyone. The ball is out immediately after the shotgun snap hit Rodgers hands. Cobb is terrific running the slant and other quick hitting type routes. Nelson catches a fair amount of quick slants also. Green Bay often gets in situations where it seems obvious based on their past history that they are going to throw a quick slant and defenses still can't seem to do anything about it.

In no way am I writing off the Lions, but, their offense isn't close to what the Packers is IMO. Dallas plays like it did for the first half and some of the second half? Packers will make them pay.

Jordy Nelson is nowhere near Calvin. Calvin can make any catch while being double covered. I don't think Jordy can go up for jump balls and snatch them down like Calvin could. I agree with your game plan, though.

We would have been able to use Claiborne in a game like this to be honest

Yeah. It might have sounded like I was suggesting you were, but I really just was commenting more on how prepared that Lions team was for a win this weekend. I think that was literally their best shot we took. And, yeah, the Lions made us pay, so I have no doubt the Packers would. I don't like our chances of absorbing the Packer's best effort of the year in a road game at Lambeau, whatever the other circumstances.

Agreed. And... Let's have success in first half please.

Don't let them run up 21 point lead from jump street.

Nelson to me has always been a notch below CJ and other top tier WRs. Cobb and Tate are pretty much a wash with maybe a small edge to Cobb. They don't have the TEs that Detroit has and they don't have a Bush either, although they do have Lacy and a better O line then Detroit. I think our secondary will do a decent job covering but it will come down to pressuring Rodgers and stopping there run game.

I have to agree with you. Its not that the Packers are unbeatable. (no one is). I believe a win in Green Bay will need to be one of those 45-42 type of games where we got the ball last.
I see us playing this game with a very "bend and don't break" game plan. I don't believe we will be able to bully them with our defense. Rodgers is just too good at all aspects of the game to let that happen. We will be on our heels defensively. Pressing the receivers and trying to get after Rodgers can be a costly strategy.

That being said I think we have what it takes to keep there defense scrambling for answers also. Let's just hope that we don't play the way we just did against the Lions. You can't miss FG's, get the ball gifted on the 20 yard line and go 3 and out against this team ect......

I'm very excited that we are even able to have this conversation this year. We seem to be a long way from the feeling we had after thanksgiving.
