We need to do whatever it takes to keep Marinelli

I'm willing to bet that the DC discussion has already been had with Marinelli. I also highly doubt Garrett gets fired this year short of a total team meltdown.

Who knows, maybe Lovie ends up as HC here next season...

They still never released him. They still retain his rights and that is what is central to my point.

But he's also not a cap hit because he's on the Retired list. We just retain his rights if he comes out of retirement.

No real reason to release him.

My understanding (from one of those TV pundits) is that RM will be gone as soon as Lovie lands a new HCing job. Smith himself said in an interview he expects to be coaching again next year (2014). If we can beat Philly (which I doubt) we'll have to determine if it was Kiffin's doing or Rm's and keep the one that stops the read-option...

Yeah, but if JG get fired what happens then? Will the new coach want him? Will he feel passed over and want to move on. If Jerry insists on keeping him the new coach will be just called another finger puppet. I like what he has done so far. But if the D craps the bed Sunday my mind could be changing.

not gona happen

This is going to be a mass exodus on the dline this offseason. Brent, Spencer, Ratliff, and most likely Hatcher all gone in a span of a year. Think about that for a second. I don't want anyone else involved in the rebuilding project but Marinelli. There is no cap on spending for coaches. Jerry needs to take some of that Forbes list money and spend 2 milly if necessary to keep him.

Brent, Spencer, and Ratliff were all lost THIS year. The only player they might lose next year is Hatcher.

There isn't a salary cap on coaches. Pay him what he is worth to the Cowboys. Jerry's operating income is a $100 million more than Kraft's.

Go get Belicheck or Saban ... just back up the truck and dump money on their lawn.

Edit: He should have done that with Sean Payton last year to get him out of NOLA.

Marinelli keep him. Pay big bucks and give him a big title like assistant head coach and defensive specialist.

If Garrett doesn't win the division this year and he doesn't lose his job then I give up on this team ever being serious about winning.

They did not have to release Brent because Brent announced his retirement awhile back.

He may be re-tired but if by chance he gets out of jail and attempts a comeback dallas holds his rights so he would have to negotiate a trade or negotiate and out and out release. Dallas holds his rights for as long as his contract was but I do not know how that changes with retirement and jail sentences.

Considering all the changes on the DL and his performance in this scheme I don't see Hatcher going anywhere soon.

Only Allen, Kroenke, and Glazer are wealthier than Jones, he should be able to out pay Lovie's new team.

I'm not going to worry about this until it becomes something that has to be worried about.

I'm focusing on what he is doing for this d-line this year.
