What exactly is this guy supposed to be elite at? If we’re being honest he’s had one good game as a Cowboy. His debut against the Raiders was great. Since he’s been very average. I saw him get pancaked today…yes his punch out was good but it was 8 yards downfield after he got mauled. Thinking I’d rather have that 1st and 2nd round pick back.

Yea he has not been worth the picks so far. That d-line was destroyed by an average offensive line. Completely embarrassed and blow off the line every single one of them.

That’s 10 years. What have we really gotten?

In terms of elite production, Zeke was the best in his prime but it only lasted 3 years. Lamb was probably the best considering prime and longevity. Tyler Smith has been a good guard. Obviously Micah was great, but we traded him.

A few guys gave us 1-2 good seasons, like LVE and Diggs. A few guys were total busts. A few guys were forgettable like Awuzie.

What does this team really have? The defense was historically bad last year and wasn’t any better last night. The offense was good last year, and was mainly driven by Dak (4th round pick) and an elite WR combo (1st rounder in Lamb and someone we traded for in Pickens). So really only two players (Lamb and Tyler Smith) were drafted with premium picks and would start on any team in the league.

The punch out was a big play. Can’t change that or pretend a play like that isn’t a big deal. But the reality is, for that kind of $, he has not been the difference making force eating up a huge chunk of cap. For that $ and those high picks, he has to be.

One-gap run defense is a weakest link game. If Q blows up his gap, but Overshown overruns his and Kenny Clark gets washed out, then the back is still going to get a bunch of yardage. Especially on zone plays designed to let backs cut away from closed gaps.

Q's not going to be a one man miracle worker.

Q is in the game to collapse the pocket and keep our linebackers clean. All that becomes a moot point of our edges don't keep contain.

Rickard was sealing our edges and turning them inside all night. This defense had no answer for the Giant's fullback.

Probably should have been paired with Williams. But the FO aren't football guys despite what they think in their heads.

Interesting thing is Awuzie and Williams had a better career post Dallas.
Williams career was derailed due to injury, but he was looking pretty good in Miami as a center.

What has really bit the team is when they get forced into their own corner and pick need over BPA/better options elsewhere.
Hill, Taco, Joseph, Williams(Quinn hype pick), Schoonmaker, Smith etc...
Awuzie was a need pick and was mid-low starter level here. Blossomed a bit more once he left.

Not every draft will be perfect, but when they ignore FA and then force the draft to get someone-and need to produce right away they've been burned there.
