Yes, there should have been more deep attempts.

BUT that being said the offensive line did not play well.

Collins himself gave up 11 pressures and 2 sacks.

Tough to throw deep when the offensive line is not playing at an acceptable level.

It's not part of our offensive philosophy, hasn't been for as long as I can remember. You dont even have to utilize your #1 WR for this, Whitehead had 4.3 speed and all we ever did was run him in motion on jet/fake jet sweeps. Ryan Switzer, judging off his college tape, looks like another guy that can get behind the safeties but I can guarantee we'll never see him go deep here.

This has ALWAYS been an issue in Garrett's offense. We have always ranked at or near the bottom in plays down field. Even with Tony, when he went deep, it was normally on busted plays. Then again, 90% of Tony's success came on busted plays outside the design of this archaic offense. Maybe Dak just need to get back to playground ball and using his legs.

People like to talk extremes. There is a wide area between dinking and dunking and throwing deep. Even hitting intermediate routes in the 10-20 yard area is going to loosen up a D. And for whatever reason, either Dak or the play calling, there was lack of any success in that range. And the few times we did try something there, Dak missed, for example, the Beasley throw.

Dez, Beez, and Witten can't get open deep. Butler is too inconsistent, so we only have Williams who can run deep routes and get open. The issue yesterday is that the line couldn't hold up.

We've got to be able to make defenses pay for stacking the box on us. Every team we play from here on out is going to try to do the same thing. If we can't make them pay, the offense is going to be hot and cold. Dez needs to get his head out of his *** and Dak needs to take some chances. Every defensive coordinator in the league is going to try to limit us in a similar manner. I don't care how good our OL and Zeke are. If we can't get them out of 8 man fronts, we're going to struggle at times.

Because Dak keeps forcing it to a covered Dez down the field. When he throwsi it to TWilll or Butler for the most part has a much better chance being catched unlike going to Dez. Who can't break free from his man.

I don't understand how Beasley can't get open when all we ever hear is that he's virtually unguardable in camp. If teams are rolling coverage to Dez Beasley should own the middle of the field.

Next game against Arizona is more of the same loaded box with a single safety look. If Dak is not taking the necessary steps to improve then we might have to have #9 on speed dial because this team is not going anywhere with the short passing strategy.

He gets open on short routes, because he's quick, not fast. He's not a speedster.
