Dooms the guy has yet to play a full 16-game slate.

Chris Johnson signed a 2 year/$8.0 mil contract with the Jets.

Murray isn't worth more than that.

Murray >>>>>> CJ2k ANY DAY OF THE WEEK AND TWICE ON SUNDAYS.

The sundays were Murray averages 6 YPC that is

I'm not so sure I would even want to move Martin, he is playing so well. Maybe they will want to, but I'm not sure. It is no gimme that Martin would be as good at tackle. He has shortish arms for tackle and his movement is really nice at G.

Dallas is going to have some money to spend in free agency next year. I would like for them to go RT and DL in free agency if available. A good RT and DL pick-up would be a big help and would allow the team to continue doing what it likes to do in the draft... namely take the best guy regardless of positional need. It also is something that I strongly agree with.

They could take the best LB, DE, DT, or Safety that was on their board.

The lone weakness on the OL would be taken care of and you're not asking Martin to move from a position that he plays exceptionally well. Another good body would be added to the DL (at end or tackle) and if we draft another DL in the first or second (or both), then there could be at lest 3 new trench players and maybe 4.

If dallas went S in round 1 and DL in round 2, then the OL would be improved, the DL would have 2 new people, and they would add a premier player at FS. That could go a long way towards getting the team over the hump.
You're forgetting the position of greatest need ...QB

We seem to be accumulating enough talent that we could make a serious run next year .... so who do we lose after this year in free agency, or hit the road due to salary cap issues?

Murray would be a big loss, but could potentially be replaced with a premium pick. Free could become expendable if we draft a right tackle, but we don't get three first round picks. so we can't draft a right tackle, a pass rusher and Murray's replacement all in the first and second rounds. I wish we had extended Murray to a cap friendly deal prior to this season. I think he is going to have a big year and we will have to let him walk or overpay.

one of the issues with acquisition of talent is keeping it.Here we have an excellent back and people wont to let him walk and send another premium pick acquiring what we have already? that premium pick can be use were we need help. you loss a position by lefting a player walk and replacing him [if his good]

I agree on Martin at guard, I think he is going to be a beast at guard. I just think that's what they may do. FA gives me some hope next year, if all the talk about having some money to spend is correct. I've got my fingers crossed that the DL can make some big leaps this year with DLaw, Melton and Crawford. If those guys can really show something, we'd have 3 of the 4 starters locked in and a bright future. LB/CB/S I still see as needing to be upgraded. Between Ro/Lee/Carter we do not know what we have for 16 games. Mo hasn't panned out and Carr has a huge price tag for the product he puts on the field. Wilcox still needs to grow quite a bit.

Yeah, I know LB isn't settled, it's just that if you're going to spend on a position (either in high picks in the draft or in big money in FA) I would like for it to be in the trenches on either side of the ball. I will admit though, if safety is still a weakness by next offseason... I'd be fine spending on a safety to finally shore up that spot.

Things could look different by March though. If they don't resign Murray, that will be an obvious need, and if Coleman or Bishop continue to improve this year, DL could be less of one. Really, we just don't know, so it is a case of wait and see. At least it will be fun finding out.

That's a valid point. At this juncture the surest need on the roster is probably another pass rushing DE. Even if Lawrence is terrific you still need another guy.

Yep, I agree.

Somebody like Greg Hardy on the strongside would help transform the entire defense... although I'm not saying we should try to get him... just someone that can provide a good edge rush from the left end position.

Unfortunately, that is one of the more difficult positions to hit a home run at in the draft.

list the talent please? I may agree on the offensive side. but on the defensive side, there is a huge hole. they maybe more talented than the group we had last year (maybe), but talented compared to the rest of NFL is questionable.

The fast TE for the middle of the field is Hanna. Just because our offense fixates on Witten doesn't mean Hanna couldn't be that guy.

Murray has looked great behind this OL...but then again so has Randle when he had a chance, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Williams could as well. I think we really have to weigh it hard before comitting to pay Murray a ton of money. I do like him a lot, but his past history is that he will play about 12 games a year. Is that worth premium dollars? Maybe, just maybe the investment in the OL means we can invest less in the RB position.

QB and RT are big needs....unless you feel like resigning Free or Parnell or even Weems. I would make the same cheap offer to both Free and Parnell and tell them whoever takes it first gets the job.

If everything pans out, we HAVE to keep McClain, but more LB's in free agency and draft are a must. Our best young LB (Holloman) is done and Lee can't be counted on. So our LB corps next year is Wilber, Hitchens and Lee if we don't resign McClain and Carter. McClain is really the must sign.

I am thinking the RT pick can be a little later....3rd round maybe. I think a DL and LB are probably the early picks. Can get a pass rusher and another FS candidate later.

Even with a lot of spots filled there is a lot of room for improvement.

Free agent QB's are really thin, so you almost have to draft one high or trade for one. Young FA's are Sanchez, Locker, Ponder, Hoyer, Mallett, Claussen.....not really much there. Would you take a chance on Sanchez?

I don't want to let Murray walk. I prefer to keep him. I don't believe that he could "easily" be replaced in the draft with a low pick. I think if you want to replace Murray then, unless you are super lucky, you are going to have to spend a premium pick ..... and that back would still be a different player than Murray.

I am also reasonable enough to realize that even though I am a huge Murray fan that there is a point where you let a player walk ...in fact ANY player walk if it is detrimental enough to your cap.

The problem with getting a free agency right tackle is that unless you pay a premium to get one he probably wouldn't be any better than who we already have on the roster.

For as smug as Tom Brady appears, he gave the Patriots a pretty friendly contract at some point so that they could surround him with talent. Brady has covered up quite a few warts and bad decisions that the Patriots have made over time. I think that Brady has made due with lesser wide receivers (and running backs) over the past several years, but obviously had Gronk and Hernandez.so that was a partial wash in some respects.
