We should have drafted an RB

Agreed. However it also doesn't change the fact that Stephen Jones has said recently how they feel they missed out by not taking a RB in the draft. People like to act that there is nothing to debate since the front office decided to not draft a RB. None of us including the front office can know at this point if not taking a running back was the right decision. Based on Stephen Jones comments it sounds like the front office has decided they made a mistake...so why do so many fans feel the need to defend a decision that the team isn't even defending at this point?

I think Jones' comments were less about a mistake, but more about opportunity not aligning. I do not buy that necessarily. Sometimes you make moves to get players you really like. I do not think they went deep enough in their thought process about finding a back. They thought the draft would break one way and not like it did, then it became a case of moving on to positions and players they knew better. The availability of a player like Gregory in the 2nd hurt a little. He was too good to pass up and made it easier to rationalize.

I agree with you. Whether they feel the opportunity didn't present itself as Jones said...he still said "we probably missed out there".

There is nothing which says the front office doesn't wish they would have drafted a back. Every indication is that the FO has already accepted that they should have.....So why do so many fans continue to try to justify it when the FO has already admitted that they missed out on drafting a back?
It's like a defense attorney continuing to try and argue a clients innocence after the client has already pleaded guilty and told the authorities where the dead body is. Strange behavior.

It's never a great feeling when your Owner says we willl have to throw the ball more this year, while your owners son says we probably missed out on the draft, while your new acquisition RB gets injured twice in no contact drills, while your starter by default gets injured and has been reported to have some issues with fumbles.

Doesn't mean everything won't be alright....but I don't believe for a second that every fan (even the ones that speak out against drafting a back or trading for Peterson, or signing Murray) isn't feeling a bit uneasy and nervous with our running back situation.

Correct all around. But the idea that this is an optimal situation that was just part of a Hannibal Smith-like plan, well, that is just not all that accurate.
