We should have drafted an RB

1. Sean Lee signed his contract 2 years before Murray signed with the Eagles.

2. The Cowboys had cap space to sign Murray. Lee's contract didn't prevent them from signing him.

3. Lee's salary this season is only 2.5 million.

Murray should've been offered an extension before Sean Lee 2 years ago. Sean Lee should have been given the Bruce Carter treatment.

Another good poll would be guesstimates of Murray's production this year.
ex
< 800 rushing?
801-1000?
1001-1300?
1301-1600?
> 1600?
> 1850?

My guess is we wouldn't have the Murray some think if we kept him

Okay, I digress

What the hell? Two years ago when Murray hadn't even come close to playing a full season?

Dude, put the pipe down.

Has Sean Lee EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR come close to playing a full season? Now pass that pipe to the left hand side!!

Clown bringing up injuries while defending the most injury prone player signing in team history...

The rules don't permit players to sign new contracts until their 3rd year. That would have been Murray's 2nd year.

This is old news, but from all that I've read, the Cowboys would have drafted a back, but every time they targeted one, they were gone:

-The scouts were supposedly "shocked" the Jaguars took TJ Yeldon so early in the 2nd; Dallas would've considered him at #60 (though Randy Gregory still would've been the pick since he was rated higher on their board).
- The Cowboys wanted Tevin Coleman, but he went early 3rd round before they picked.
-They had fourth round grades on Javorious Allen and Mike Davis; who were picked by the Ravens and 49ers at 125 and 126 right before Dallas at pick 127.
- Jay Ajayi had a fifth round grade; and went to Miami in the fifth before Dallas.

The Cowboys simply stuck to their board. We've seen this team overdraft for need before and it wasn't pretty.

I don't think Abdullah will be anything special. He fumbled a ton in college. From what we heard around the draft the guy they really liked was TJ Yeldon.

I was really high on Jeremy Langford. He is very similar to Murray only without all of the injuries.

Agreed
I wanted a RB in the draft but even in hindsight I would not have taken one over Jones or Gregory

Can't do anything about this now. Might as well see what our RBs can do. Crosses fingers.

I'm thinking 1100 at about 3.8 per carry

It's a bet then. If Latavius Murray ends the season with more than 3.1 yards per carry you owe me $20, if he is under 3.1 I owe you $20 via paypal.

No, the bet is that McFadden will have a higher ypc than L. Murray.

All these threads and all these proponents of running back by committee, or allowing a play maker to leave the team because of ghosts like what happened to other players with near four-hundred carries, or you can get a running back anywhere, will be very silent if this team takes a dip because they now have to rely on the passing game.

Dez is terrific, and Romo is terrific, and even Beasley is pretty good. But teams sit on the passing game because this team cannot produce a running attack, even behind this line, and all you will hear around here are crickets.

Nate Newton sounded off within the last two weeks about the running game in regard to when Dallas had what was essentially a pretty great offensive line. "Until Emmitt got there, we weren't as good."

The move was not drafting a RB but keeping the one you had. And it has since been revealed they could have paid him the money and still done all the moves they have done. Fact is they might have gotten him for 7 a year and just guaranteed a little more money.

My one consistent complaint about the front office, read Jerry and now Stephen, is they sometimes outsmart themselves by wheeling and dealing. I said in another thread this RunDMC thing felt like the Roy Williams trade. Of course there were a number of people reminding me of the draft picks and money. And of course my point slipped by.

McFadden is done, just like RW11 was done. Had nothing to do with money or draft picks. It had to do with Jerry buying a cow that is now out of milk.

People excel at revisionist history.

This is true but we also shouldn't sit here and act like Sean Lee has been that much healthier than Murray. Sean Lee has been very unreliable in regards to showing up on Sunday. Well, physically anyway. But if the guy is healthy he's on a very solid contract. But that hasn't been the case and even when we signed him to the contract that wasn't the case.

No, that isn't what I was betting on. You were basically saying the only reason DMC had such a low YPC is because he was on the Raiders and that others on the team were just as bad. I wanted to prove to you that wasn't true and that Lativious would better the 3.1 average of DMC. You should take that bet to back up your opinion. Or back out because you know L. Murray is better than DMC and will average better than his 3.1 last year. Thus proving my point that it wasn't just the team but also DMC himself sucking.
