What would Minny be willing to give up to get him? How much exactly is it worth to them for a legitimate shot at winning a Super Bowl? A 1st? A 2nd and 3rd? I dunno, but I'll bet its alot. I think it would be pretty damn hillarious for us to trade for Favre, then turn around and trade him to Minny for more than we gave up for him. Give up a 3rd, and turn it into a 2nd and 3rd, or a 1st. What do you guys think?

Do you really think that Minnesota would do a trade like that with us again? :)

Heh, I have no idea, I just know we were on the wrong end of a deal like this with Henson, so why not take advantage. I'm sure there would be cap implications, I just thought it was a funny idea.

If Green Bay is dumb enough to trade him, it won't be to an NFC Team.

GB would certainly have a conditional pick set up so that if the team they traded him to turned around and moved him, they'd have to give up a high pick.

Thats most likely true, though I keep hearing Tampa Bay as a possible landing spot. All in all though, I think it would be funny for any team to pull this, just trade for Farve, then put him up for auction, all those teams that Green Bay wouldnt even consider options from would end up in a bigging war, someone could come out huge winners in a deal like that.

Ted Thompson seems like a pretty good GM. If he were to trade him and the 2nd team decided to move him to a Rival. there would be a provision in the trade to get a boat load of picks from the first team. Ted has the personality of a rock, but he is a smart GM.....

Favre isn't playing another down in this league unless it's with the Packers.

Why would we want to send a Pro Bowl QB to an up and coming team that is really only a very good QB away from being a serious SB contender??

This may turn into a battle of teams and owners vs players. I hope not.

I don't even see it being that. Favre can make $12 million by playing for GB next year. If it was just money then he'd buy a new hat and grab a clipboard. Favre seems to be too much of a competitor and wants to stay in the limelight. Hey, it must be hard not to be the object of adoration and celebrity. Sure he stays a celeb but not an active one. Might be too much of a change for him right now.

But in the end money will come up on both sides. And I'd say the leverage is mostly with Favre. The Packers don't want to pay $12 million for a backup QB although if they are thinking SB they should probably rethink that. Not a terrible price to pay for a SB trip.

Sounds like a whizzing contest to me. Cooler heads will prevail once big money gets on the line and signatures and decisions are staring people in the face.

Do you really think Favre has the leverage? He has NO leverage IMO.

If he decides to come back, the Packers decide what to do with him. If he causes team turmoil they can do what the Buccaneers did with Keyshawn.

They sure as heck don't have to trade him because he WANTS to be traded.

Sarge you seem pretty emphatic about this. Brett wants to come back and (for some reason) the public loves him. I think the brass caves on this, if he is allowed back in the league coming back from retirement aren't the packers still paying him?

Favre wants to start. He's not wanting to hold a clipboard and signal in plays from the sidelines. That much has been made clear. Do you really think Favre will want to come to Dallas and sit behind Tony? Because that is exactly what he'd be doing here in Dallas.

Yes. He has legacy, fan support with a team owned by the fans (60 to 40 right not unofficially of course), and the team is not going to want to pay $12 for Favre. That's the leverage.

No, they don't have to trade him and they need to be careful not to give the impression of capitulation to him. Bad precedent for the league to cowtow to players. But $12 million is a lot of money for one year.

Ask Adam, but I think they have to eat all that this year unless he signs another contract. I'm assuming that's the last year of his contract and I DON"T know his contract.

While were at it let's bring in Randy Moss to help out T.O., Peyton Manning to backup Romo, Adrian Peterson to sit on the bench just in case MB3 gets hurt, and Antonio Gates so we can run a killer 2 tight end set. Yeah, Superbowl bound baby...

And suddenly my alarm clock goes off and it's time to wake up and go to work.
