Despite all the feel goods Moore provided to some in the finale, he has no business being the primary backup QB for an NFL team. It is absolutely insane that this front office neglected to bring in a veteran signal caller after the season we just witnessed.

Unless they think Prescott is ready for that role right now, but I highly doubt it.

Are you comfortable with our backup QB situation if Romo gets hurts?

I dont really think they had an opportunity to fully address backup QB based on the talent and or value available. Unless players like Brian Hoyer, Case Keenum, Drew Stanton, or Matt Moore interested you. Most of these backups may be able to come in and win a couple games, but none will save a season if you had to rely on them to start significant time. Where the Cowboys couldnt deliver is acquiring a backup that could become the QB of the future. However, they never really had that chance outside of maybe Paxton Lynch who I think most here werent very high on.

Bottom line, this team isnt making it to the playoffs without a healthy Romo this season. So if Romo is to miss significant time I rather be in a better position to acquire our next signal caller than win a couple extra games that puts us picking in the middle of the first round. We have a talented offensive line, an outstanding #1 receiver, a potential top tier RB, a young QB would have an excellent shot at excelling early.

What QB should they have brought in? The best of the lot was Hoyer and I would rather have Moore over that guy. Tenn and Cleveland moving from 1&2 really hurt our chances of acquiring the QB they really wanted. I'm not a big fan of Dak but we will see how he develops. But of the FA QB this year, there wasn't anything better than what we already had and the draft didn't fall our way for a top notch prospect to be drafted. It is what it is, but I doubt the FO wasn't looking to improve it just couldn't.

If romo goes down long term let moore go a few games and once the season is lost let prescott get some limited pressure experience.

That's a bit strong. We haven't even seen Dak play. And I think you are suggesting that people come to the NFL a finished product without the possibility of improving. Moore with full offseason and more importantly a training camp with this team could make leap...or he could not. Either way, we won't know until training camp. As for other two, if Moore doesn't work out I do wonder if the Cowboys would consider employing the option to better suit their skillsets...if so, I think they could have success.

It's called, like, having an opinion on college prospects. You have no issue with me using the same thought process to believe Zeke is a great player. It's only when it goes the other way and your fan sensitivities are disturbed that I should wait and see until all results are in.

Dak Prescott is a bum. I'd say it regardless of what team drafted him. I said it before he was ever drafted. I'm not going to change my opinion on him because he's here now. Every moment spent grooming him to be a QB worthy to start for the Dallas Cowboys in the future is time wasted.

How many teams have the luxury of having their future QB on the roster, being groomed, etc?

What? Like one or two?

You want something that is pretty rare

How many teams have a crippled 36 year old QB, a top 5 pick in the draft and two teams at the top of the draft willing to move down to give you your choice of QB prospects?

I want something that was actually available. What do you suggest? Waiting until Romo has no throws left in his arm and then wishing to the franchise QB fairy for another?

It's like we're too top heavy. Romo goes down.. QB's suck. Dez Goes Down.. WR's suck. Lee goes down LB's Suck. Witten goes down TE's suck. Bad coaching..

Outstanding point that is lost on most.

This comes from a lack of talent evaluation from our scouting department. Whether it's the scouts themselves or the guys taking that information and making the final decision. Whatever it is, we are horrific on day 3 of the draft where teams build their depth.

The believe they have something in Moore. They drafted Dak. So from their position they have addressed the backup QB. Now whether we agree with their decisions or not does not mean they did not address it. IMO it is still fluid and if Moore sucks in TC or Preseason games they will be on the hunt for a vet.

They knew they had Moore when Stephen Jones said they had to address the backup QB spot for next year and not have a capable starter should Romo go down. All they did was draft a rookie at the bottom of round 4.

They did nothing to address the backup in 2016. Now they are forced to hope for improvement out of Moore. Who, again, was already in the fold when they announced they needed to add a player for next year who can win games in a pinch.

Moore is not the answer, but some will never concede to it. Prescott and showers are developmental players. Give them 2 more years and if you dont see anything, cut and draft again.

We lack a savy vet backup.

Look if Romo goes down I'll be fine if we don't have a backup quarterback, that means we have to draft 1 and I don't want to give away the entire draft to get him

Of course I root for the team when the gun goes off at the beginning of every game until the end but we've got to draft a quarterback sooner or later and I think it's going to be sooner. If we stink, so be it.

Thing is.. I was all hyped up because we were getting a QB this year. But if you not picking 1 or 2 chances are slim. College game ain't pumping out QB's like they use to.

I always love the "whatever we do is right" crowd.

"We" don't even feel great about the QB situation.

Stephen Jones, after watching Tyrion Lannister stink up the last few games last year, said addressing the back-up QB position is one of our top priorities.
"That's going to be No. 1 on our list, how do we do that better in the future."

Jerry Jones came out of the draft regretting not making the move to get Paxton Lynch.
"...But if I had to do it all over again? I’d give the three.”

"We" have no idea what "we" are doing.

1 upside to us not addressing the backup QB position is that if we lose Romo we will most likely lose every game and be drafting high again.

If Romo is out significant time I want to tank the season for picks.

True but not if spend the picks on hurt LB's, UDFA QB's and Basketball players.

Well that's what I'm saying if we have to pick your QB 1 or 2 I don't want to give away the farm to get there. If we stay with Moore A1 or 2 pick shouldn't be far off
