We wasted a a year and more importantly a shot at the playoffs becuase Parcells didnt want to sign a Vet RT but instead was groomin Petitti...

There were plenty of servicable Vet RT's that we could have singed that could have given us a better chance to win games but Parcells wanted to give Petitti starts. Flow got injured and our line cost us the playoffs.

Instead of being weak at both tackle spots we could have had a servicable RT and had Tucker or Petitti start on the Left side with plenty of help from the TE's and RB's.

Thats the only reason I am upset about the release of Petitti, Why would we invest a year in someone wo will not be with us the next year.

It doesnt make sence!!

Can you name a few of those vet RTs that were available last year?

I think we would've kept Petitti if Colombo didn't have the camp that he had.

Don't worry, what we missed in Petitti, we should get in Colombo.

Well there is no question Parcells has screwed up the RT position about as bad as one could screw it up. The Cowboys are going on their 4th different starting RT in four years now. The guys who have started there (Petitti, Tucker, R. Young & Vollers) in the past 3 years have been pretty terrible. That doesn't even count the massive bust that was Jacob Rogers. I certainly hope the Cowboys hit it big in Colombo, but obviously that remains to be seen. The RT position has held Parcells hostage so far, but let's hope he has finally rectified it.

My thoughts exactly.

Now you could make this argument with something like this,
Instead of signing ferguson use that money on kareem mckenzie and then your right tackle worries are over for three to five years.

I can see that argument, but the thought that in week 6 we are supposed to sign a pro bowl tackle is flawed.

To be honest with ya I cant remember the names of these players but I don remember one guy that talked his way out of Cleveland, i think his name was Ross, that we could have signed.

I know there were more options but the names are not coming to me right now, Ill have to do some rechearch and get back to ya.

We went into camp thinking Rogers would finally "get it" and Petitti would merely be competing for a backup spot. The "perfect storm" happened and Petitti wound up with the starting RT job. He did a horrible job and now we're over it. Moving right along...

No...we missed a shot at the playoffs because of the freaking kickers, not Petitti...!

You're the one not making sense...

I always wondered why you have Homer Simpson as your avatar...I think I found the answer.

Probably to see if he could play and because of limited options. I think he was suited to play LT better than RT and Pat Mquis..was better already.

YAWN!! Get off the ledge...on second thought.

Well said.

Mcquiston, Columbo. That is why we got rid of him. So in the origninal post, I guess in your thinking- we should keep him just because he started last year. The nerve of BP. Heck, why cut anybody, the boys should never cut a player from the year before, so I think we need to field the 1992 Boys.

Chill out man, Im just trying to make a comment.

So your saying that our kickers cost us the game the second time playing the Gaints and Skins..

O ya and the seahawks gave us plenty of oppurtunies inside there redzone (Remember Roys interception) to score but our Oline couldnt even get us a 1st down.

If our blockers were doing there jobs we wouldnt have to rely on the kickers

No im sayin if Parcells didnt see enough in Petitti than he should have signed a Vet to a 1 year deal instead of playin a rockie.

It was actually a culmination of lots of bad things that happened for the Boyz not making the playoffs...but, I just found it amusing that you singled out Petitti...

We had all those injuries across the board...

But, I agree with you somewhat about the Oline, and hopefully, it will be better this season. :)

If Columbo turns out ok, none of this will matter, because obviously they think he is the better long term answer there. That is unless they switch Pettiti to guard and he flourishes. Then we will be stuck with the likes of Kosier, Rivera and Procter and wonder what the heck was he thinking.

Im not saying that Petitti was the only reason we ddint make the playoffs..

I remember that when Flow was playin we did a good job of hiding Petitti's shotcomings by sliding TE's and RB's to his side.

What I was trying to say is if we had a Vet RT than we could have put Petitti in at LT and slide protection to his side instead of having Tucker play LT and not being able to help both of them.

I agree, I thought the growing pains would pay off someday.
