We wasted a year and shot at the playoffs w/Petitti

We wasted a a year and more importantly a shot at the playoffs becuase Parcells didnt want to sign a Vet RT but instead was groomin Petitti...

There were plenty of servicable Vet RT's that we could have singed that could have given us a better chance to win games but Parcells wanted to give Petitti starts. Flow got injured and our line cost us the playoffs.

Instead of being weak at both tackle spots we could have had a servicable RT and had Tucker or Petitti start on the Left side with plenty of help from the TE's and RB's.

Thats the only reason I am upset about the release of Petitti, Why would we invest a year in someone wo will not be with us the next year.

yep, because playing petitti caused flozell to miss most of the year. we should have grabbed one of those many great starter quality RT's that were out there.

I didnt once say GREAT!!!

There were however acouple servicable RT's that would allso just been with us for a year but would have played better.

Im not saying that Petitti was the only reason we ddint make the playoffs..

I remember that when Flow was playin we did a good job of hiding Petitti's shotcomings by sliding TE's and RB's to his side.

What I was trying to say is if we had a Vet RT than we could have put Petitti in at LT and slide protection to his side instead of having Tucker play LT and not being able to help both of them.

We could have had "the Lord" playing RT...and we still would have missed the playoffs because of the kickers if everything had turned out like it did.

We can should have, would have, all day long, but, in the end it's really hard to pinpoint the ONE thing that really cost us the playoffs...but if everything would have worked out JUST LIKE IT DID last year, and if Jose "I can whip Larry Allens butt" Cortez, and that Baby faced brat, Cundiff, make some kick...the Boyz are in...

But, all that was last year! This is a new year...and I think a good year! How about you?

I agree... it didn't help that we signed a baseball player from Colorado to play RT....

OK back to the point... Ross Verba is one of the guys I think you're mentioning. Verba came in for a visit and had an ego, and BP didn't like him. That's why he wasn't signed.

To say we "wasted" a year on Petitti is a stretch. We were decimated by injuries on the OL, he would have been forced to play anyway. So it's not like we had a whole lot of choice there.

Also I'm not going to fault BP for seeing what we had in Rob. He was a 6th rounder, and the best option we had on the roster. How was BP supposed to know last year that we were gonna cut this guy this year?? What was his crystal ball was in the shop?? If we had signed a vet last year, and put Petitti on the bench, BP may still believe that we hadn't seen enough of Rob to guage his potential. As it stands, BP thought he knew what he had in Rob, and apparently thought Fabini and McQ were better options.

I firmly believe that if we hadn't made the moves we did with Columbo, McQ, and Fabini, Rob would still be on this roster. BP said himself he had a tough decision there. I take that as a positive more than anything. To look at playing him as a wasted year is just looking in hindsight. You have to look at it from last season's perspective, because circumstances have changed.

A) You clearly have no knowledge of the team. It was Jacob Rogers who screwed us, not Petitti.

B) Sence? You must mean Sense. If you want to make sense you might want to spell stuff right.

I know I cant change the past but it was a let down to watch Petitti get burned over and over thinking that it is all part of a plan for the future and see him get cut the next year

To be honest with ya I cant remember the names of these players but I don remember one guy that talked his way out of Cleveland, i think his name was Ross, that we could have signed.

I know there were more options but the names are not coming to me right now, Ill have to do some rechearch and get back to ya.

If you mean Ross Tucker...he was cut/quit...not sure he could make up his mind so they made it for him. The short answer is there were no real viable options available last year. You can't have it all or every team would be 16-0. Pettiti was a have to case as a starter last year and now we don't "have to". Good story and the classic underdog, but those who think he would be anything more than an emergency back-up are dreaming. Guess we'll find out in New Orleans.

uh, last I heard, all rookies are hit and miss, esp. ones taken on the 2nd day of the draft, there was no way we could have seen this situation taking the turn that it did, we didn't know Columbo would have rebounded so well, we didn't know if Fabini was going to be on the market, we didn't know we might have struck gold with McQuistan, we didn't know that Pettiti's physical limitations were too much to overcome etc., I think you're being a little, too harsh
