I know I cant change the past but it was a let down to watch Petitti get burned over and over thinking that it is all part of a plan for the future and see him get cut the next year

cobra said:rojan, my friend. I will try to explain this for you in a real simple manner.
You are mad because you think:
1. We knew at the time that Petitti wasn't the future.
2. We cut him this year.
3. We could have had someone else if we didn't think Petitti was the future and were only planning on having a RT for one season.
There is a huge flaw in your reasoning.
Here is something which is perfectly reasonable that you aren't considering:
Last year, we thought Petitti was the best we had and could be a RT of the future. He didn't develop as well as we had hoped, and after training camp, we realized we had better options. Thefore we pursued them.
The possibility you are ignoring is that we could have legitimately thought he had a future last year and that opinion could change this year.
You seem to be suggesting that we knew last year he had no future but decided to waste a year with him instead of picking up some other undefined servicable tackle. Or that we lied last year about whether Petitti would have a future here. You seem to deny that circumstances or opinions can change to such a degree that what is true one season might not be true the next.
This is called "hindsight is always 20/20."

Last year we missed a shot at the playoffs because of Petitti? OK glad we got that figured out.rojan said:We wasted a a year and more importantly a shot at the playoffs becuase Parcells didnt want to sign a Vet RT but instead was groomin Petitti...

You still didn't get it.
I think everybody else did.
Never mind, carry on lad.
If you think Pettitti was our starter last year in a grooming process that sacrificed wins because we were playing him over other guys who were better, you're crazy. My personal opinion is that if Adams hadn't been hurt, Tucker would have been playing RT. We tried to sign a RT, as memory serves me, but he signed elsewhere.rojan said:We wasted a a year and more importantly a shot at the playoffs becuase Parcells didnt want to sign a Vet RT but instead was groomin Petitti...
There were plenty of servicable Vet RT's that we could have singed that could have given us a better chance to win games but Parcells wanted to give Petitti starts. Flow got injured and our line cost us the playoffs.
Instead of being weak at both tackle spots we could have had a servicable RT and had Tucker or Petitti start on the Left side with plenty of help from the TE's and RB's.
Thats the only reason I am upset about the release of Petitti, Why would we invest a year in someone wo will not be with us the next year.
It doesnt make sence!!
