We wasted a year and shot at the playoffs w/Petitti

I justed wanted to point out the fact that we wasted a year grooming a rockie for the future that we didnt see in our future plans..

I know I cant change the past but it was a let down to watch Petitti get burned over and over thinking that it is all part of a plan for the future and see him get cut the next year

rojan, my friend. I will try to explain this for you in a real simple manner.

You are mad because you think:

1. We knew at the time that Petitti wasn't the future.
2. We cut him this year.
3. We could have had someone else if we didn't think Petitti was the future and were only planning on having a RT for one season.

There is a huge flaw in your reasoning.

Here is something which is perfectly reasonable that you aren't considering:

Last year, we thought Petitti was the best we had and could be a RT of the future. He didn't develop as well as we had hoped, and after training camp, we realized we had better options. Thefore we pursued them.

The possibility you are ignoring is that we could have legitimately thought he had a future last year and that opinion could change this year.

You seem to be suggesting that we knew last year he had no future but decided to waste a year with him instead of picking up some other undefined servicable tackle. Or that we lied last year about whether Petitti would have a future here. You seem to deny that circumstances or opinions can change to such a degree that what is true one season might not be true the next.

This is called "hindsight is always 20/20."

OK man this thread was about Petitti and you have posted like 4 times and still havent made a comment about him

So... our line would have been better had we signed the lead male character from Friends?

I understand what you are saying now and you have a good point.

I not going to lie I didnt even think about that.

Thanks man.

It could also be argued that playing Pettiti extensively last year sped up the "3yr rule" and therefore SAVED the Cowboys two yrs on a wasted roster spot ;)

whether you know it or not, you quoted a piece of the chorus in Nas and AZ's "life's a biatch", I was just giving you the rest ;)

Havent read beyond the first post, but I hope you realize the the LT position is much more difficult to play most times. Simply because most QBs are right handed.

We wasted a a year and more importantly a shot at the playoffs becuase Parcells didnt want to sign a Vet RT but instead was groomin Petitti...
Last year we missed a shot at the playoffs because of Petitti? OK glad we got that figured out.

I clearly made the point that Rodgers screwed us, not Petitti.

Your reading comprehension seems as bad, maybe worse, than your grammar.

There were plenty of servicable Vet RT's that we could have singed that could have given us a better chance to win games but Parcells wanted to give Petitti starts. Flow got injured and our line cost us the playoffs.

Instead of being weak at both tackle spots we could have had a servicable RT and had Tucker or Petitti start on the Left side with plenty of help from the TE's and RB's.

Thats the only reason I am upset about the release of Petitti, Why would we invest a year in someone wo will not be with us the next year.

It doesnt make sence!!
If you think Pettitti was our starter last year in a grooming process that sacrificed wins because we were playing him over other guys who were better, you're crazy. My personal opinion is that if Adams hadn't been hurt, Tucker would have been playing RT. We tried to sign a RT, as memory serves me, but he signed elsewhere.

The Cowboys made what turned out to be a foolish decision last year. They more or less counted on Jacob Rogers to become the starting RT. That didn't work and the Cowboys were caught with their pants down ..... and they had to start a rookie who wasn't ready at the time.

Actually, I thought our defense collapsed in the last third of the season and got no pressure on the QB and the running game was limp-wristed from Thanksgiving on, thanks to JuJo being out again for half a season.

And let's throw in we had no PK all year.

But you're right..it was Pettiti.

Actually, I'm going to agree it was Pettiti and his 6th round pedigree that ruined our whole season last year.

Good..now he's gone and we don't have him as an excuse.

Actually, BP got a tremendous amount of milage from a guy who is basically a third string guy.

Yikes. Now that's really bad coaching, isn't it..?
