We will regret not going up for Carson Wentz

I know the common meme is typically something along the lines of "we waste our third rounders on guys like Green and Wilcox" but I think trading up when we are going to get a blue chip player no matter what is foolishness. Goff, Ramsey, or Bosa will be there even if Wentz is gone. All 3 fill huge needs and are legit blue chip.

Wentz has to develop as well as learn the Cowboys offense. I have no idea how he learns, socializes, practices, etc to know anything about how that will go with the Cowboys or any other team. NFL scouts are in a position to know that but I am pretty confident in saying nobody posting here has that access. Insisting on something from a position of ignorance seems unwise to me.

It's one thing if you are trading up from the teens or later for Dez Bryant or even Mo Claiborne. It's quite another to peddle some of the best draft picks in a draft with decent depth at DT, RB, CB, and even QB where we are sitting. Maybe if someone like Elliot falls or similar position stud falls then trade back into the first to get another position stud but I'd prefer to hoard these top selections otherwise.

From everything I have heard Wentz puts a ton of effort into his craft off the field. This was coming from Bill Polian who said everything points to Wentz being a grinder off the field.

I think everything points to superstar potential. The ability is off the charts and the dedication is there as well.

IMO Cowboys will regret not drafting one of the three top qb's in this draft..Goff, Wentz or Lynch

Lynch is the best deep thrower and has the personality to be a star..as far as personality /future success goes I have Wentz 3rd best

Goff just brings back memories of Peyton Manning at Tennessee...just so assertive in his decison making

actually a little scared of Wentz..wish I liked his interviews/sideline behavior more

If the Browns get Kaep from the 49ers then Dallas may have Wentz fall right into their laps.

I suck at reading Twitter..

Broadus thinks Goff is ahead of Wentz on Cowboys board?

That is what it looks like he is saying. The question was about if he thought the Cowboys had Wentz rated over Goff.

So a throwaway hearsay from Polian. I guess I just have higher standards for proof then you.

It's not just that.

He worked hard while he was injured getting his body right and helped his backup prepare for each game.

A lot like Tony did this past year.

I personally think if Wentz is there, we take him. I don't know if we'll go up to get him.
I also believe Cleveland will take Goff, not Wentz.

I think Wentz is going to be a fine QB but not sure I would trade up for him. Too many holes to fill but if he is there I take him and sit him for a couple years and I think he developed into the next great Cowboys QB

I think that Goff is an NFL ready QB that matches a team that does not have a starter now. However, that kind of team can ruin a potential good QB who ends out of the league quickly or ends up as a backup. Wentz is for a team that has a starter and can learn the NFL way and acclimate to the team approach and when it is his turn he is ready and produces big time. I believe that Wentz has more potential than Goff and in the long run will get the Cowboys into the playoffs more frequently. Now here comes the hard core reason to get a QB at #4. Romo is having another surgery and is having to recover again. He no longer is Houdini on extending plays, he was slow footed for his last injury, he is one injury from never playing again. If I was JJ I would give up the idea that Romo will be here for another 4 years and consider that Romo will not last the year (I give him four games and out). Now sitting on the bench is Wentz who has time to learn the system and watch a pro play QB. I like the chance that Wentz can handle the season like Romo use to do and win a lot of games. The following year Romo will be a coach and Wentz will be the next elite QB and lead the Cowboys to the SB.:flagwave::clap::hammer::yourock:

That's a total contradiction.

It's hard to find a franchise QB so just forget about it and try to build a perfect roster in salary cap football?

No thanks.. You do everything possible to get a QB.

We just so happen to have completely lucked out with our bad luck.

If you think these QBs suck then fair enough but if you see any potential for bigtime success and you pass and they go on to be studs then it is completely unforgivable.

But I'm sure it would be forgivable if Wentz didn't pan out, and say a Bosa did?

You could make that argument, so long as you didn't already have a pro bowl QB with years left on his contract.

This is just forcing things, and the Cowboys will prove that they are smarter than that come draft day.

There is more to success at this level than work ethic.

Yes but it's part of the blend that equals success at that position.

Smart, super physically talented, and a high work ethic.

The recipe for success is there.

currently have Goff #1, Wentz #2 and Lynch #5 on my board and Romo is old

Rams drafted all pro Aaron Donald in 2014 and finished 6-10, drafted all pro Todd Gurley in 2015 and finished 7-9 and are planning on starting Keenum at QB in 2016 and likely will have yet another losing season. Winning runs through the QB position. Players like Bosa, Jack or Ramsey are meaningless if you don't have the QB

I am huge on Wentz. He has the body. He has the arm. He has the athleticism. He is a winner. He has the intangibles. He is confident, yet humble. He is hungry. He is extremely intelligent.

I want Wentz.
