We will regret not going up for Carson Wentz

No one, not you, not draft experts, not gm's, no one knows that Wentz will be a solid starter in the NFL.
Every QB is a gamble, even at the top of round 1. For every Aikman and even every Carson Palmer there are 5-10 Jarmarcus Russell's, Ryan Leaf's, and Gino Smith's.

No one really knows if Wentz will be the next Andrew Luck or just smoke and mirrors who said the right things and looked the part but never catches up to the speed of the NFL after playing in the college minor leagues.

Of course not but that's not the game. You measure, test, interview and evaluate.
You can't play scared if you think his worth the risk you make the call.
When the ball is handed to you you run with it. That's what you get paid to do.

Each draft slot that high in draft is extremely expensive.

Not sure if we're talking all the way up to 1st. If so, we are talking this year's 1st, 2nd, and next year's 1st...and even that may not do it.

April 28th 2016 is a pivotal point in this franchise's history and for the league. Our own AC/DC thing. He's been sent to us. This is why we went 4-12 this year. This is why Romo's collarbone turned into a pretzel. I'm starting to believe this is why we've been Jerry Jonesed all these years.

We're in position. We can go to 1 easily. There is simply no excuse.

We had the come to Carson meeting at the Senior Bowl. We've seen the miracles. We've heard the scriptures. We even touched him and Jerry's shingles cleared up. We know him now. We can not Judasly choose another player. We can not succumb to the sins of the cornerback flesh.

Don't work him out. Don't invite him in with the visits with the mortals of this draft class next month. Do not do anymore scouting on him. That doesn't show faith. Get up to 1. If the phone's ringing in the hours before the draft tell those teams we will pray for them. Send the pick in the moment you go on the clock.

Carson. Of Bismarck. Our King.

We believe.

If they love him enough they should take him.

But no offense Catch, you did for sure say this about Manziel two years ago.

I'm not at all saying they're the same player...not remotely...but you did voice very loudly your love for Lil Johnny.

Anyway, fwiw, I wouldn't completely rule out us getting Wentz. Kind of doubt it, but I really don't think it's off the table completely.

I had gave up on the Cowboys and was at the point that I just wanted to be entertained....

Also, Manziel never was a bad player.

I'm all for taking a QB. Dead against moving up for one of them. And I don't really like one of the top two guys over the other.

I know the common meme is typically something along the lines of "we waste our third rounders on guys like Green and Wilcox" but I think trading up when we are going to get a blue chip player no matter what is foolishness. Goff, Ramsey, or Bosa will be there even if Wentz is gone. All 3 fill huge needs and are legit blue chip.

Wentz has to develop as well as learn the Cowboys offense. I have no idea how he learns, socializes, practices, etc to know anything about how that will go with the Cowboys or any other team. NFL scouts are in a position to know that but I am pretty confident in saying nobody posting here has that access. Insisting on something from a position of ignorance seems unwise to me.

It's one thing if you are trading up from the teens or later for Dez Bryant or even Mo Claiborne. It's quite another to peddle some of the best draft picks in a draft with decent depth at DT, RB, CB, and even QB where we are sitting. Maybe if someone like Elliot falls or similar position stud falls then trade back into the first to get another position stud but I'd prefer to hoard these top selections otherwise.

Tennessee would probably want one of are offensive lineman. Would you give them MartinIs

I would strongly consider giving them Lael Collins. Collins isn't going to do much good if we're trotting Dak Prescott in three years.

I mean, I'd rather give them draft picks, if possible. But at the end of the day you have to give up value to get value. And we're pretty good at drafting OL.

Yep. We're going to get one of the draft's very best blue chip players, no matter what. And have three picks in the top 100. That's a lot of ammunition for a team that needs more playmakers. Giving one of them away for a pet cat when a similar player is going to be there right where we are would be foolish.

Personally I feel Lynch is much better value in the bottom of the first round. He had tremendous upside with development. .......which is what a QB we draft would be, a development. We aren't a team like Panthers, Raiders, Browns, Vikings. Cincy that needed a starter day 1.

Wentz has so much hype I'm willing to bet anybody, anything they want he never lives up to the hype. ....not sure Montana could

Why would Collins not do much good if Prescott is QB in a few years? That has nothing to do with anything

the key point is "develop".............does the regression of another spread offense/system very raw QB in Dustin Vaughn give anyone a lot of confidence the present Dallas coaching staff can develop any QB let alone another guy who has simply run plays......and not learned to play the game on his own.

I think that is why they ran the Senior Bowl without a playbook handed out...........they wanted to look at guys that would be somewhat like Romo.........to be able to "leave the reservation" (B.Parcels) and basically massage the playbook on the go out on the field............knowing their playbook on its own merits doesn't get it done. They are looking for a guy who can play the game ala Romo, not run a play cause its in the playbook.

Goff.........what scare me most about him...........for all his supposed merits.........in 3 years as a starter at Cal, he's won only 14 games as a starter......Was the Pac 10 that strong, was their non-conf. schedule that imposing?.............I'll pass on him,

Yup, I'm a Wentz/ NDSU homer, buried in here somewhere after Wentz's 1st FCS championship game is a statement that is the Cowboys next Qb........hate to see him go to a Cleveland as their OLine gets decimated by free agency........If he has a agent with gravitias they should be dropping hints that they will not sign with Cleveland, new coach or not......its the ownership

On @sportscenter, @AdamSchefter telling us that Colin Kaepernick wants to play for the Browns and work with Hue Jackson.. #SportsCenterAM

If that is the case, you would think the Kaepernick would not have an interest IF the Browns were intent on drafting a QB at 2.
Maybe the Browns told him that he can become their starter, and Kaepernick agreed only under the condition that the Browns do not draft a QB at 2.
Kaepernick has some leverage in dictating trade discussions/teams.

Browns will then either take the BPA at 2 or trade the pick.
Thus, opening the door even wider for Jerry to get his QB.
Don't screw this up, Jerry.

I was having a good day until I read your post. :( If we do not get Wentz I am guessing that there will be Dallas Cowboy jumpers from tall buildings around the country. That day will be called DOOMSDAY.:banghead::facepalm::angry::mad:

That would be a good day. Rename it.

So torn over this. Hate the idea of having to move up to grab Wentz when The Boys are right there sitting at 4, but I guess if you TRULY believe Wentz is a 'franchise' qb, no price is too steep to pay to ensure you get him.
