Weather where you are

i tried posting a pic, but I guess you can only post a pic via a link. I have a pic saved on my laptop but it doesnt look like this board allows it.

.just came in from ice fishing. Brutal out there. Wouldn't want to do it without a shelter and heater.
And a flask.....

What were you fishing for? Just bluegills through an auger hole or do you cut a block out with a chainsaw and go after pike etc?

Any luck?

Lol yep! Lake trout on the tip ups and jigging for yellow perch in the shelter. Caught one small laker, maybe 8 lbs, and enough perch to fillet up for a little fish fry this evening for the game.

north dakota? holy smokes. I thought upstate NY had tough winters.
ND and Minnesota are the coldest states in the lower 48. Temps of -50 isn’t unheard of and that doesn’t include the ‘feels like’. It is really brutal and a different kind of cold, more dry than anything so it doesn’t snow all that much like in Maine or Buffalo. Around here, locals say it is too cold to snow

Are those trout like the arctic char? Pink flesh and all?

Nah Arctic char are friggen delicious..sweet and flaky. Lake Trout have a strong fishy taste, are really oily and the meat is a lot firmer.

I'm not a big fan of eating them, some people love them and have all these things to do to try and make them taste good like soaking in milk or marinating etc...everything I've tried only makes them taste "less bad."

They're fun to catch though, especially if you hook one up on an ice jigging rod!

Ahh, okay. I would compare that to a redfish in my fishing grounds. It is a popular fish from the gulf but it is oily, fishy and firm as well. It is nothing compared to red snapper.

It snowed but not by much for my great nephews and nieces to play in. But suppose to be black ice on Monday morning. Two days off school here.

Rain, rain, rain. Has been raining all month - cant remember what blue sky looks like! Forcast is for more rain for the next few days.

They say that here in New England too, but that's an old wives tale.
