With Weeden the Cowboys will need to rely on the run the ball, with a play action passes. I think the defense improves Cowboys go 5 and 2 or 4 and 3 in the next 7 games.

Im all for good vibrations....

But I will be happy with 3 Ws..........!

He needs to get us 3 Wins out of the next 7. If he does that, he will have earned his paycheck and all the people, including myself, wanting him cut, will have been wrong;

Garrett and the coaching staff rolled the dice with the Weedster. So, were going to find out if it was the right choice.

This is his last chance.... Either you can do it Weedy, or you cant;

.................I think he can. Given the right playbook and the right guys around him. I think he is going to surprise us;

Its been a long, long time since we have had to get use to another QB guiding the Cowboys......

Exactly the amount of games I said he needs to win on another message board. 3 wins gets us to 5-4 for the last half of the season and we should have every one back by then.

We really need one of these next 2.

Remember the announcers showing weedon just sitting there on the bench after Tony went out and them saying - shouldnt he be warming up and throwing the ball ?

In retorspect - thought it was kind of funny he was just chillin on the sideline and then once on the field he was like a robot. running the offense nice and calm and moving the chains like it was a normal day.

I like that type of poise in him especially when one mistake could have been so costly in a close game.

I really feel like our strong defense will give us a short if Weeden can minimize his mistakes and let the run game wear down opposing defenses.

A hot Atlanta team definitely scares me next week but it should give us an idea of how good our secondary can cover a top WR.

All of us are basically praying he can go 3-4. You know who thinks he go 7-0? That team. Jason Garrett has them convinced in one play at a time, do your job, fight through adversity, etc. Maybe Weeden goes 0-7, but this team is planning on winning each game, and the coaches will prepare them to do just that. Weeden has had the benefit of practicing with the first team every week on Wed since last year, so it's not like he's going to be in unfamiliar territory.

Last year's lone start does give pause, but they were also missing Ron Leary, and Patrick Peterson OWNED Dez that day, and yet Weeden kept forcing it to Dez. Hopefully he takes a more democratic approach for the next 8 weeks and takes what the defense will give him. Hopefully he gets better OL and run support than he did last year (he got decent run support yesterday, and were it not for penalties and an Escobar fumble, he might have lead them to even more points). I am cautiously optimistic Weeden can manage the games and get some wins. I reserve the right to change my mind this time next week.

Where have I heard this before?

Oh yeah, last year after he looked decent in relief against Washington. Then he stunk it up the next week.

To his credit, that was against the Cardinals who have an excellent defense that is pretty complex with its blitzes.

Atlanta isn't that complex scheme wise. New Orleans is, but we should know what Ryan is going to throw at us.

I think we need to just play to his strengths as much as we can. The issue here is I don't think he's a 'bus driver' type. He's not good at being careful. We need for him to take his shots from time to time and hopefully that will open up the underneath stuff. I could really watch that throw to Williams again and again. That was a thing of beauty and that's what we need to not be afraid of having him do if the opportunity presents itself.

I have been wondering what the eagles defense did on that play - I missed it Live and only saw the replay briefly. I wonder if the blitzed Weedon - given that Maxwell was alone in single coverage and the safet was so far off he couldnt recover. I was wondering what the call and defensive alignment was on that play

I think this guy is a former first round pick for a reason.He has a better arm than Romo, really can make the throws.Tony Romo looked old like Peyton Manning is these days.I always wondered why Dallas kept Romo but yet rest of team got younger.Really it might be a changing of the guard.Weeden and our offense is the best in the NFC East.The other teams in the NFC East are so bad this year.Don't give up here we may still be a jugernaut later in the end of season.

Long term it is better for the Cowboys let Weeden play and see what he can do.Everybody says we need to draft a QB, guys this guys is a first rounder, higher than we usually get to pick.He might yet be the steal of the year.Our front office needs more credit, they really get it.Where are the Murray folks today he looked old today too.

It is gonna be ok.At the end of the day it is only a game.Last year my father in law was alive the Cowboys were 1-15.Didn't matter I enjoyed every minute I had with him.Remember to hug your loved ones life is short.And Weeden might be the next Romo you never know.

You live in Denver, Colorado? Hit up the head shop before posting? Tell your Goth roommate to hide your hydro before turning on the PC.

I do think Weeden can drive the bus till Romo and Dez get back. But let's not think for one second this will eventually become Weedo's team.

May your father in law rest in peace!

We don't have to worry about him forcing the ball to Dez. I don't think the season is over. We went from a great team to an above average team with our losses. Wins against the Cheatriots and Seagulls are out of reach, but the other 5 games are winnable. A 3-4 record in the next 7 games puts us at 5-4 with the easier part of the schedule and Romo and Dez returning. I still like our chances.

I feel like we had this same discussion leading up to the Cardinals game last year.

I mean, I hope he somehow plays like Josh McCown did for the Bears a couple years ago. But realistically, he'll probably play how most backups play when they take over for an injured franchise QB.

To me, it looked like they were guarding against a screen. It would explain the pass rusher getting free room to Weeden and Maxwell playing so far off Williams. I think they were gambling that Weeden wouldn't make that throw and keep it safe and instead Weeden threw a frozen rope on the money.

Weeden with Dallas thus far: 30/47 368 yds, 4 TD 2 INT - 98.5 Rating.

That's including the AZ debacle. The other 3 games he has played in, he was nearly perfect (12/14 185 yds, 3 TDs 0 INTS). We just need him to not suck as bad as he did against AZ more often that he does suck that much.

Strangely enough I feel better about our chances than I ever thought I would. Maybe it's because I initially thought Romo was done for the year only to find out he may only miss seven games. I feel Weeden will be better than everyone expected. He will manage the bus, make big plays on occasion and limit mistakes. He won't be as bad as the cardinal game, but he won't be as good as he was yesterday either.

I'm no Weeden fan, but that dude does occasionally throw a pass that makes you see the talent that Cleveland saw in him when they took him in the first round. I believe there was that one pass to Beasley that was dead on the money and a laser and then there was the TD to Williams.

I really hope I'm misreading this, because it seems like the OP is suggesting Weeden is better than Romo.

Alright, I'll give you being optimistic about Weeden doing just enough to hang on for dear life until Romo and the boys get back.... but suggesting he's Romo's replacement and the future for our team is going too far. Way too far.
