You mean with Romo. This staff was 1-11 and one loss away from the worst team in football without Romo. Doe any of this register?

I have to say the staff is sure getting a lot of mileage out of that one glorious 12-4 season. It is almost like it was their first and only season if you believe half of what some people keep banging that gong about..

There was an article posted here not long ago detailing Linehan's thoughts on Weeden. He soured on Weeden after the 2014 season.

And yet we are still to believe that Linehan would still agree to a contract extension in January of 2015 with an owner who was somehow forcing him to keep Weeden?

As for Matt Cassel, what other backup QB do you think would have come in and performed better?

I'll make you a deal, you give me whatever parameters on that I have to work with and then I'll give you my list.

In year with a pile of injuries at key positions, yes?
It has little to do with the remaining paid professionals doing their jobs. Any player who wouldn't doesn't deserve to be in the NFL.

Then I'm not entirely sure what all the fuss is about. Just a bizarre season with a lot of unfortunate circumstances.

Coupled with plenty of bad decisions and poor coaching. Chalking it up to "unfortunate circumstances" would be ignorant and sounds like something we'd get from Mickey Spagnola.

Well.........its all they can hang their hat on. And its quite obvious now that it was Tony Romo and the stellar run game that made the difference in 2014. That much has been proven way beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Cmon, you want him gone now. Certainly you dont have to wait another year. And if we are 1-11 without Romo and then 12-4 with him AGAIN!!! then that will be even more evidence that Garrett does nothing here. So what we be with a real head coach 14-2, 15-1?

Trust me, if it were up to me, he'd already be gone and we'd have Coughlin, Shanahan, or Sean Payton holding the clipboard.

But I can tell you for certain that there is no way we are going 12-4 with McFadden the lead back in this offense unless we get more stud backs in here.

I take nothing away from McFadden's 2015 season. He proved me very wrong. But I do agree that it would still be foolish to count on him going forward, and, like the other troubled areas, a reliable backup or alternative is very much needed.

Well, not really since other teams won more than one game with their backup QB, whereas the team this season was one boneheaded Desean Jackson decision away from going 0-for in all of its games with any of theirs.

It can be said that we were 1 play away from winning 6-7 more games. ......we didn't and we also didn't lose every game either

How you proven wrong about McFadden?

It's amazing that people here can take something so complex and boil it down to one sentence and everyone thinks they've made a great point. no, this does not mean the offense only works if the QB can freelance. it's like it sounds good and simple in your little head so you go with it. it's much more complicated than that, and Weeden just plain stinks. that's why the offense couldn't get anything going.

And Matt Cassel stinks.

And Kellen Moore.

And Brad Johnson.

And Kyle Orton.

And each and every one of the quarterbacks that this team can't win with, despite the fact that they could somehow win elsewhere.

Yep, it's all on them! Couldn't possibly be a staff that can't succeed with anyone not named Tony Romo! Nope, couldn't be!

It's just an incredible run of bad luck with a bunch of guys who "just plain stink".

Denver lost Manning for several weeks.. How did they get to the Superbowl?

Lots of teams seemed ok with their backups. We could only win 1 game with all 3 of ours.

Did they lose a Dez? No. Did they lose Dunbar? No. SMH.

I never thought he would hold up for the season, much less be as effective overall as he was. Once they changed things up from zone to man blocking for him, he had a great season. I expected him to be on the sidelines for the vast majority of it.

I'll happily admit I was very wrong on him.

It is simply amazing how people can't grasp this simple context.

A high quality staff squeezes out more than one fluke win with a backup QB over a 12 game stretch.

You guys must be smoking pot as you've lost your short term memory. We lost a lot more than our QB to injury and suspensions.

No it was the lack of injuries.

Well they're sure not going to point at 8-8, 8-8, and 8-8 are they? And this 4-12 record setter for futility?

Never happened.

It is more complicated than that. And that complication starts with the fact it's a poor offensive system led by average to below average coaches that appears incapable of taking a mediocre backup QB (or three) and manage just one win out of 12 games.

this "incompetent" staff was ONE catch-called-no-catch from being in the NFCCG against a team they had already trounced. we have the worst fans.

Tyrone Willingham once made a BCS bowl game and had ND in the NC hunt. He was also named a national coach of the year. Reality is Willingham was a terrible coach.

Charlie Weis made two BCS bowls before bombing out at ND. Then he made Kansas even worse than Kansas normally is.

Gene Chizik won a NC. Reality is he was a bad head coach.

We can do this all day. Sometimes, average coaches just put together a nice season but when you look at the entire landscape you see a sea of mediocrity. That's Garrett.

It's not that we have the worst fans. It's that we have smart fans who aren't dumb enough to have the wool pulled over their eyes over and over.

Thanks for the insight Weeden. If it wasn't bad enough he just confirmed the obvious.. this staff is clueless and without Romo nothing gets done. Romo is playing park ball out there with the plays called.

This team wasn't decimated by injuries and it's revisionist history to suggest otherwise. Especially when you see some of the teams we lost to like the Giants, who also had significant injury problems.

Eventually you guys will realize what a mediocre staff this is. Probably will take you two more years of disappointment before that settles in, I guess.

Not all of us fans consider it a requirement to blind ourselves to the issues this team has.
