I think weeden thought he was back at okie state. You know where all he had to throw to was dez. Geez Beasley was wide open most of the game running right in the middle of the field
Thanks for the update.Weeden was horrible
The Rams third string qb comes to mind. I was all for putting in Dustin Vaughn in today. I couldn't see how he could have stunk up the place any more than what Weeden had already done. Weeden appeared to be hesitant and thinking too much that along with his accuracy skills being way off made it tough to watch. What bothers me is that there have been many instances this year already where backup QB's and backup to backup QB's have played well and helped their teams. No so much here.
He was bad.
Normally, I'm not one to throw a guy overboard for a bad game, but, depending what you see in Vaughan on the side, I'd consider it here. Your backup QB should be able to step in and help you be competitive for a week or two if you need him. Let's not forget that Weeden did a nice job of that last week. This week, he was awful. But if you can't count on him to play with less volatility than that, he's not really a whole lot of help to you. I'd rather have the developmental guy get the reps in a loss than watch a veteran who's too old to develop into a starter for you helplessly put on an ineffectiveness clinic for me when all you need him to do is to hand the ball off and throw the ball deep downfield every 5-10 offensive snaps.
Josh Freeman anyone?
Seems Weeden can't play baseball OR football. He's still young enough to figure out what to do with the rest of his life, though.
You noticed that huh.Weeden was horrible
I was there so didn't see many replays but it seemed like he locked on to his primary read. I never really saw him go through his progression of receivers and very rarely threw to his blind side/ left side of the field.
sure everybody manages to have a bad day. Rivers has been near perfect all year and last year for that matter.check out phillip rivers stat line today, people were talking MVP about him just two weeks ago
Whatever. We can say the defense wasn't great. Well actually the defense scored 7 and held a good Cardinals offense to 21 additional points. Dallas' defense was suppose to be horrible and they are not. They aren't elite either, but they gave us a chance to win.
Special teams wasn't great, but that only cost us 3 points. Our punting was pretty good and returns not bad either.
So why was this game not competitive? WEEDEN.
He sucked big time. The first interception was inexcusable and the 2nd one was predictable - stare down your receiver type of bad. Meanwhile his throws to wideouts were horrid all day. Miscommunications, misreads, etc. etc. It was like the bad news bears out there.
Weeden is a smart guy and has an arm. There is no excuse to be that bad. Weeden wasn't a leader out there and he costs us a chance to win. 75% of the quarterbacks in this league could have made this game competitive and at least given the team an opportunity. Weeden failed on all accounts.
