thanks for all the replys on this thread, but its hard for me to believe that a true cowboy fan wouldnt be going crazy if the Commanders comes to big d week 2 and win,the carry over from last year is still there...again it has no reflection on your season...but the rivalry thing im not so sure..it starts to set in what do we have to do to beat these guys...trust me i know!!!

Well, I'm "crazy" for the game. I bought tickets on the 50 yard line. I'm not worried in the slightest though in terms of winning that game.

OL play. With Adams back, Kosier new and a possible new RT, not sure that will be enough time to gel.

The funniest thing about this is that the thread starter has gone from worries to now just assuming that the Commanders win.

I guess there's no reason for me to watch that game, the Commanders will win anyway, and begin a 1000000000 game winning streak against us. sigh..

Game 1 was a fluke, game 2 we got thumped.

Personally, I'm not worried about it becoming a trend.

I have a quick question for skins fans... if Archuletta got a 10 million bonus or what ever it was... what do u think Taylor will ask for?

oh and back to Topic...

week 2 no matter what happens the Boys wont back down this is a PARCELLS coached team stocked full with the players that have some stones... I wrote them off last year and they came back to beat teams like the PANTHERS and Chiefs when all seemed lost for the season!!!

the only reason why the BOYS owned the SKINS for 5 or 6 years was because the Skins had a bunch of players and coaches who played for the paycheck and not much more! How many times did QUINCY CARTER beat Skins?

It's simple. It isn't our superbowl like it is your's.

This Dallas team isn't like the Commanders team that you used to have. They won't be wondering "what do we have to do to beat these guys?" They have heart and talent. I know the current Commanders team does too... but the one in the early 00's didn't.

See, you assume that because the Commanders were on the wrong side of a 15 game losing streak, that the tide will eventually turn and Dallas will be on a losing streak like that.

That may never again happen in our lifetime. More likely, it will be like it has always been with Washington, NY and Philly. Splitting the season series with the occasional 3-4 game winning/losing streaks placed in there.

So don't sit around expecting Washington to even the score on that streak any time soon.

You're absolutely right. When Campo owns Turner or Spurrier, it doesn't have the same meaning as Gibbs and Parcells going head to head.

The rivalry is always strongest when both teams have playoff aspirations.

I agree...coach and attitude are everything. When the Commanders were winning Super Bowls, Cowboys would still fight tooth and nail because Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson were leading the charge.

The 1991 game at RFK was such a gutsy play calling game by Johnson. He knew it would take risks to beat the Skins, and he pulled it off and ruined our chance for a perfect season.

Then the Commanders return the favor by having an even score through the Cowboys dynasty 92-95.

Finally, having Norv at the helm and too many players retire on our end, got to us and the Cowboys streak began in 1998.

1. I think it will be a huge deal to the Cowboys fans and players. TOs first game at Texas Stadium, and 60,000 screaming fans wanting revenge for last year. Not to mention Parcells, who took the loss very personally.

That's your opinion. I can speak for myself and I know that it simply won't be that much bigger than the Jax game before it or the Tenn game after it.

It will be some bigger, but that's because it is the Commanders... not because we lost both last year. It'll be fun.

It will be TO's second game. Jax will be the first and Tenn will be the third. They'll all be big deals. Trust me, I've been to Commander message boards... the Commanders level of obsession with Dallas isn't reciprocated. Ya'll just aren't that big of a deal to us. You once were, and maybe you will be again. But not right now.

Parcells took it personally because his team played like crap... not because it was the Commanders that beat us. He worked on his team to get them back playing better. He didn't obsess with Washington and say DC fans are ugly.

3. If I wasn't a Commanders fan, I'd agree with you that we don't have the amount of talent other teams have. But not everything in the NFL can be spelled out by stats and paper, particularly because at this level everybodys good. The Commanders are tough-minded and will fight for 60 minutes, even when on the road and with an injured QB, RB, and no number 2 receiver.

That's what I said. Washington is a pretty good team. Well coached. You don't have players or units that scare anyone though. Just because you're a Commanders fan and over-estimate the talent on your team, doesn't mean that talent is really there. And I didn't say that you don't have the talent of other teams... I simply said none of your players or units scare me. Portis is talented. Taylor is talented. Washington is talented. Griffin is talented. They just don't scare anyone.

4. Tampa sucked? They went 5-1 in the NFC South last season, won their division, and had the number 1 defense in the NFL with an offense that was emerging at the end of the season with both a solid running and passing game. How do you qualify that as sucking?

Yeah, they just weren't very good, and the fact that you lost to them in the regular season and then barely beat them in the playoffs, isn't anything to crow about.

By the way, I'll add that the win at Carolina by the Cowboys truly erased any doubt I had of the heart of the team. They could have folded but didn't.

The game against St.Louis was like an exhibition game because the outcome of the season had already been decided.

THEEBS...thanks for your take,i just feel like if the skins win that game that a serious skins winning streak against your cowboys is on...who else feels that why?

Just to match the streak the Cowboys just ended you would need to win every game over us for the next 7 years. Sorry bud won't be happening. Dallas will win week 2, you should be more worried about finishing higher than 3rd

In all honesty, this game means a whole lot less to Cowboys fans than it does to Commanders fans, and I'm not saying that to be antagonistic or demeaning. Look, you guys beat us twice last year. The first time that's happened since what 95? 96?

We gave you guys an *** beating for what 6-7 straight years? We knew when we looked at the schedule that it was 2 wins, guaranteed. We could have been 2-14 in any of those seasons and the two wins would have been against the Skins. You guys won two straight and all of a sudden you feel like a curse has been lifted (and rightfully so), but until the Skins make a habit of beating the Boys, in all honesty, I'm more concerned with the Giants and Eagles (whose recent series' have been much more competitive against us). As it stands, those teams have provided a much more competitive rivalry, recently. The Skins? Not so much.

Arch got a 5mill signing, 5 mill option, and 3mill in other bonuses.

Taylor got a 7.2 mill signing, 4.475 option and 1.37 in other bonuses.

Pretty close as it is now.

First before I say anymore, I have seen you on other boards and you are one Cowboy poster I respect and I know doesn't troll.

May I ask how old you are though? If you're 20 or younger, I can understand you not seeing the Commanders the same way...because you've simply been better then us most of the last 15 years.

If Parcells didn't take it personally, why didn't he shake Gibbs' hand after the game? I think its fair to say both coaches respect each others abilities, but there is still a hatred there.

Give me reasons you feel the Bucs weren't any good. I don't think a team wins their division by accident.

Thats false Riggo, after the game ended the field was hectic and he never made it to midfield, he shook gibbs hand near the entrance to the locker room.

Not quite 7 years more like 3 straight years after this past one. Then we'd need to have another 2 years to even the damage.

...98-01 sweeps (4 year streak)
02 split
03-04 sweeps (2 year streak)
