Who’s to say that the RB you propose we should have taken with a 3rd wouldn’t have gotten injured and spend the rest of the year “riding the pine”?

Looking at the state of Weems, Dill etc. it looks to me like Chas Green might end up being a very sound pick.

Based on what? We haven't seen him play before. He could even be just as bad as Weems. I wouldn't have used a 3rd on a player just to ride the pine. We could have gotten someone that at least wasn't injured perhaps.

he did the fine the first half, maybe its a stamina issue, also many people are forgetting he just started playing LT 2 weeks ago after practing at RT the whole offseason and training camp

What did you guys think of the fat guy playing RT for the 49ers that gave up sacks to Russell & Gardner? The announcers said that it was looking like he was their swing tackle. Not many teams have a Jermey Parnell starter type sitting back there. (Just as many complaints last year about him)

I don't think they knew he had a torn labarum when they drafted him so I doubt they spent a 3rd for him to sit.

Equally who can you say right now is going to be a better pick?

I think they knew that he had a history of injuries. Otherwise the scouting dept. isn't doing their job. I think he was a bit of a reach. I believe there were other tackles that were rated better than him.

Demarco Murray had a history of injuries but he did OK last year.

Granted you'd prefer them not to have that sort of history, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will repeat itself in the pros.

Equally there have been many that never had a history of injury but can’t seem to stay healthy in the NFL.

Just because they were rated higher, doesn’t mean they would be suited to the way Dallas want’s it’s OL to operate.

He obviously was the highest rated OL on their board.

There is still time to do that. I just finished watching the first half and I agree with the OP, Weems wasn't good. They have to money to sign a last gasp veteran to be the swing tackle, but I agree they should start preparing Collins to play OT rigtht away.

That is what they should do and cut Weems right after they sign a swing tackle. The time they wasted on Weems is a total waste !!!

I am very familiar with this injury in football players. It takes 4-5 solid moths to recover. If Green had surgery in June, the first time you see him is early November.

True, but in pass protection, it's the offensive linemen who have to be reactive in "defending" the QB.

Just like Corners are at a disadvantage due to the WRs knowing we're they are going (DL) beforehand. Reactionary footing is much harder, etc.

Dallas shouldn't be depending on Dill other than being a camp body and to help keep our starters healthy. If I was the OL coach I would play Dill every preseason game until cuts, that way the coaches can have great talking points with other linemen on "what not" to do during film study.

LOL that guy weighs almost 400 lbs. I think. If he doesn't make it in the NFL he can probably audition as props for the TV show As the World Turns.

This time last year, I believe I recall some suggesting we cut Parnell and keep Wetzel.
