Bach, I have a question.

Previously, you have stated:Based on a straight linear trend of the team's past 13 seasons involving the team's final five games each year, which one of the following do you believe is factual?

• 3 Wins 2 Losses
• 2 Wins 3 Losses

I have read your opinion. I was wondering what you may have thought was actually true.

I know we haven't had a winning December in the last 7 years. And with the 5-11 seasons from '00 - '02, it's a good bet lose final five games weren't above .500.

So I don't have the exact numbers but I'd say 2-3 would be close to our average over the final 5 games of the season the last 13 years. Some years I'm sure we even went 1-4.

That coupled with the strength of schedule these last five games is why I said I was leaning towards the team going 2-3 over these final 5 games.

Apparently though, a 5-0 or 4-1 prediction would've been much more popular despite not being based on anything other than wishful thinking.

2-3 would get us to 10 wins, and likely in the playoffs.

I don't care what our December record is as long as make the playoffs. AZ faded bad last year in December and made it to the Super Bowl. Obviously, I'd rather enter the playoffs "hot" as opposed to "cold".... but once the playoffs start, anything can happen...

I agree. 2-3 should clinch a playoff spot. 1-4 might even do it, but it would be a close call.

The bumping of this thread only had to do with the way you carried on over a simple realistic prediction I made last week. First you lied about it being a guarantee and then tried claiming if it weren't a guarantee then it was me talking out of my rear.

When you start trumpeting reasoning based on trends of past seasons rather than more recent evidence, i.e. a current season, you tend to be either talking out of your rear end or making a guarantee

My motive was predicting what I believe. We have a tough remaining schedule and tend to have problems at the end of the season. That's my motive, being realistic.

Even at 8-3, with games @NYG, vs. SD, @NO, @ Wash. and vs. Philly, there is no way I could with a straight face say I thought we could go 5-0 or 4-1. Even if this were Sept or Oct we probably would go 3-2 at best. Throw in the late season futility and that's why I predicted 2-3. But the way things look now, I may have overestimated our chances. :bang2:

Actually I didn't take exception. I was quite amused at how predictable you would be and were. Or do you forget that part and focus solely on the loss? Do you really think I expected any answer other than 2-3?

There's only been 2 times in the last 13 season we've finished above .500 in the final 5 games of the year, and both of those times we only went 3-2.

So that leaves 11 times in 13 seasons we went 2-3 or worse to close the regular season.

Yet somehow I am "talking out of my rear" for even suggesting we may do so this year based on our tough schedule and this past history of ours. Yeah, ok.

Aw, so you are saying it is not required at DCC anymore? Well, I guess things can change. I confess I am shocked. It shows good progress on their part that they will allow free thinking for a change. I would not have known this because I don't read there any more. I regret that I ever did.

One of the things that gives me hope is the way Romo played yesterday.

The myth that Romo cannot play well in December was dealt a blow yesterday. Yes, it was just one game and the rest remains to be seen... but the fact that he played well, on the road, in December... showed to me has learned. He took care of the ball in a game where we really needed it (the defense wasn't going to bail him out like they almost did in Pitt last year).

He didn't take a whole lot of chances, understood he needed to move the chains, and manage the game.

He did that.

And it gives me reason to be hopeful for the rest of the season. If the defense comes recovers and Romo continues to understand this..... we can survive December.
