Wentz is better than Dak in some things at this point

Must be nice when half of your completions are just screens and the other half are inside 5-10 yards.
Right? I swear..I thought I was taking crazy pills when I watched his game against the Steelers. His Defense/ST did all of the heavy lifting and he dinked and dunked on short fields. The longest drive that offense made was a dump off pass to Sproles that went 73 yds for a TD.

Not saying that the 2016 Eagles are the 2012-13 Seahawks, but Wentz isn't exactly playing for a bad team that rests all of its weight on his shoulders to win. Dak is equally fortunate, but the people poor-mouthing Wentz need to checkity-check themselves.

For what it's worth, I think Wentz is good and will get better as time goes on. However, the guy hasn't done anything spectacular. His best play is about what he didn't do, not what he did do; not fumbling to Scandrick. I feel our coaches put more pressure on Dak to perform than the Eagles do to Wentz based on the plays they call for him.

Hilarious. I thought it was pretty indicative when the announcers were lavishing Wentz for taking a sack and not fumbling. It was a terrible sack that 100% all him. But it was still spun into a positive.

The only thing Wentz has on Dak at this point is the high draft pick status and the 'look' of a traditional QB.

Dak is doing things on a regular basis that Wentz isn't even trying.

I'm not altogether that impressed with either of these quarterbacks.

I don't think either are going to be in the Payton Manning class or even the Andrew Luck class.

I do think that if Wentz had the supporting cast that Prescott does that he would obviously be better and no Cowboys fan can legitimately argue otherwise.

I'm not sure if we would trade Morris for Sproles, let alone Ezekiel Elliott.

Not sure if we would trade Williams or Beasley for Jordan Matthews, let alone Dez Bryant.

Would we trade any of our offensive linemen for theirs?

I would trade Escobar for Ertz, but that's about it....
Don't be stupid.

Weeden was good at completing those 5 yard passes too. Wentz from week one to now goes to his first read 90% of the time. Sundays night game reminded me of weeden last year lol. Why does wentz throw 80 mph on 5 yard passes?? He's a great player don't get me wrong.

Rather than try and get smart (you failed),

Why don't you argue what I asked. Does Dak have a significantly better supporting cast or not? Which elements of the Eagles offense is better than the Cowboys?

I'll wait.
It not completely fair to either guy to argue their stats against each other's. They do have different supporting cast and completely difference offensive schemes ect.
So we need to use the eyeball test. None of us could say how Wentz would look in Dallas or Prescott in philly. But I can say that the eye test has Wentz with a big question mark when it comes to throwing anything that isn't a quick slant or screen pass. Is it his receivers as they claim? Hard to say but when Dez wasn't playing our receivers were similar to their level and Dak still was throwing the ball down the field. Is it because they don't have our RB? Maybe, but we can't know if it would matter. Is Doug Peterson protecting Wentz from himself by calling only quick hitting passes? Maybe.

So far Wentz has not shown the ability to bring his team from behind and win the games when he had to throw the ball downfield. He is a rookie so he isn't really expected to at this point. But he hasn't shown that he is that level of player yet.

The issue Cowboys fans will have with sports writers claiming Wentz has show better than Dak is that this can't be based on facts or the eyeball test. What has Wentz shown to be better at than Dak so far? If you believe it's everyone else around him's fault then I can see you giving Wentz a pass. But a pass isn't the same as saying you have seen displays of superior play.

This is hilarious. So there is nothing Dak can do to show he is better than Wentz, because having better stats and beating Wentz in a head to head matchup is quicklt attributed to him being in a better offense... but if Dak would have lost, we would have heard about how awesome Wentz was and not how great his defense is. The obsession with Wentz among some cowboy fans is really strange.

Frankly, I don't care about Wentz. There's no question he looks the part of a young pro QB. As a human, I don't wish any ill on the man. But he's an Eagle...so I hope he never completes a pass over 10 yards in his entire career.

I'm rooting for Dak. He's still pretty rough in some areas, but he sure doesn't look like a late 4th round pick, either. Most importantly, he's the one we drafted. He's the one standing behind our line and currently winning us games we would have lost last year.

Wentz's progression as a QB is only going to be important to me twice a year. Dak is a Cowboy. He matters every day.

Yeah, Wentz is probably better than Dak at this point, all things being equal. But the Cowboys with Dak are better than the Eagles with Wentz, and last time I checked that's what gets recorded in the standings. We won and Dak went 5 for 5 with a TD in overtime, which led directly to Wentz going 0 - 0 in overtime.

Let's not let bias blind us....Carson Wentz is very talented. There is a reason why he went as high as he did. Having said that, he was not there when Dallas picked and Dallas got what looks like their franchise QB at the end of the fourth round. A Decade of superior play from an undrafted Free Agent and now potentially a decade of superior QB play from a fourth rounder. Dallas has been lucky with QBs to an absurd degree and I am not complaining at all.

It's great entertainment watching a narcissist dig his hole deeper and deeper with every post on Dak. It takes a man to admit he was wrong.
I don't think that's what he's doing. I think he gets a kick out of the narrative. truth be told, I think he's laughing at everyone who's getting upset about what he's saying. He's a Cowboys fan. In a perfect world, Wentz will flame out and Dak will go on to win 5 superbowls...and the whole time RS will be preaching about what Wentz could have done here.

It cracks me up.

Wentz should be better. He was the second overall pick.

The fact that this is a legitimate argument is just hilarious.
I dont really think it is. If wentz had more than a half second to get rid of the ball there would be no conparison. That there is a comparison shows why wentz went round 1 and dak went round 4+.

I wouldnt trade drafts with philly and im more than happy with Dak as the long term starter, but i would definitely trade dak for wentz.

Interceptable passes? Haha...
Problem is Wentz has thrown 12 intereceptable balls.
Go ahead and look up that made up stat category.

Our guy has led us from behind to win 2 games where we trailed by double digits. Wentz crapped the bed and couldn't get it done in several games already. Anytime Wentz has had to throw the ball downfield he has failed. Take away the 5 yard 100mph slant and he has crumbled.

Idk man romo throws for 500 and 7 td's but throws a late pick as someone steps on his foot and a Broncos lb makes a diving play and romo is a choker.

Prescott is awful all game, makes a worse fourth quarter throw but the db drops it, and this is the shining example of why he should replace romo

I just don't understand this crowning of Wentz already. As I said in another thread, I read that someone called him "Peyton Manning pre-snap, and Aaron Rodgers post-snap." He's not Peyton Manning in any way, shape, or form. He is not Aaron Rodgers in any way, shape, or form. At least not right now. He has a long way to go before he's a really good QB. He definitely struggles with accuracy and touch right now. For a large majority of the season, he's had plenty of time to throw the ball but isn't throwing it deep. His OL isn't what ours is, but with Johnson in at RT, it was a very good OL. His run game isn't close to ours, but his defense holds teams down better. Versus Cleveland and Pittsburgh, the games weren't close (though vs. Pittsburgh he threw a wheel route to Sproles that went for 70 yards...threw it 5 yards, got 70 because of blocking and Sproles).

And of course we can look at his WRs. Dak played three games without Dez, three games where he had to rely on Bease, Williams, and Butler. Jordan Matthews, as stone-handed as he can be at times, is a better WR than all of them. Dak still put up numbers.

Outside of Cleveland and Pitt, Wentz hasn't been all that great. Vs.Chicago, it was a close game mid-way through the 3rd quarter. They kicked 3 FGs in the first half. It was 16-7 Philly when the Eagles defense forced a turnover and gave Wentz the ball deep in Chicago territory. Thanks, defense. Next, the Eagles returned a punt for a touchdown. Thanks, special teams. He did not play a good game.

Detroit, he played OK. His defense was poor in the 1st half. Really locked down in the 2nd half. He was let down by his RB, but then had over a minute left, down by 1, and decided to bomb the ball to, of all people, Nelson Agholor. It was a bad throw, and pretty ill-advised. He didn't need that on that play, it wasn't 4th down with 10 seconds left. It was 1st and 10 with, I think, 1:10 left.

Vs. Washington and Minnesota, I'm not sure what else to call him except bad. He was inaccurate all game vs Washington. He got a punt return TD again and a pick-6 in his favor, otherwise he gets blown out. His defense is 110% responsible for the win vs. Minnesota. They won in spite of him.

He's a good QB and will be good, but the way people talk about him as if he's already a top-5 guy is just odd. His supporting cast definitely isn't good, but his defense and special teams, and having Sproles on offense with what was a good OL before Johnson's suspension kicked in..it's not like the team around him is hopeless. He's received a lot of help from defense and special teams in being 4-3 right now. He doesn't throw the ball downfield at all. He barely throws it beyond 12 yards. He also hasn't driven his team downfield ONCE with a chance to win the game in the 4th quarter. Not vs Detroit, Washington, or us. Not once. Since when does that not matter?

I wish Fisher would sack up and start Goff so people could wring their hands about whether pick 1 or 2 is the better QB and Dak could be left alone to quietly kick ***.
