No, it wouldn't. He's a guard, the most replaceable player on a team.

To a team with a bad offensive line, he's more than just a guard, and if you could turn that into a significant defensive player, you ABSOLUTELY do it. But it would have to be a significant player with a contract that allows Dallas control.
So, would you be okay with trading Martin?

ESPN's Ed Werder reports general managers around the league "heard a rumor" the Cowboys would trade second-year LG La'El Collins for defensive end help.

Werder asked a Cowboys source about the rumor, and he replied, "That's stupid." It's not all that far-fetched, however. The Cowboys have OG Ronald Leary as depth, and he's been an above-average 35-game starter for Dallas in the past. He made 31 starts from 2013-2014. Collins was a first-round talent who went undrafted last year, but took over as the starter Week 3. Collins was Pro Football Focus' No. 53 guard out of 82 qualifiers, struggling both as a run and pass blocker.

If they're trading him, it better be for a pass rusher equivalent in skills, potential and age to Chandler Jones.

The Patriots traded Jones for Jonathan Cooper, who hasn't shown as much promise as Collins. That said, the Cards are a much better team than the Cowboys, they can afford to give up talent on one side for the other. No one we trade Collins for is going to make a damn bit of difference to the fate of this team this season.

It's not true. Someone from Yahoo sports wrote about it as speculation and it has grown from there.

You beat me too it. I saw this sometime ago and it was pure speculation. Didn't make sense then, and don't make sense now.

Arizona got taken. Chandler Jones has some drug and behavior issues.

i heard this rumor last week, i dont remember if it was from werder but it pretty much said the same thing, dont be surprised if collins is moved. i would be pretty upset if we did this. i get that they may think he is expendable because of leary but if i recall leary had a great camp last year and then in games wasnt he replaced by collins due to lackluster in game performance? i think La'el has a lot of potential and to trade him for say a backup QB, or i dunno what they would want to get back for him, but whatever it is would be a waste.

What kind of ******** story is this? I can't stand Werder. What the heck are you even reporting? You wrote a story about a rumor that you fact checked to be wrong and you wrote it anyway?

For Aaron Donald? Yes. For Fletcher Cox? Yes. For Bobby Wagner? Yes.

Why would those teams do that trade, since OG is the most replaceable player? (as in not hard to find one)

I doubt this rumor is true but I will say any player is tradable for the right price. To nix a deal before you know what and who is involved would seem silly and short sighted.

However I recall a lot of people upset when Dallas 1st traded Herschel Walker .

Once again not buying into this rumor but when it comes to a trade I would at least like to see what is offered before I would say no to any deal

You had better get a superstar if you are trading a 23 year old star offensive linemen with a Super cheap contract.

An I mean a bonafid stud.

If they trade him for a backup QB it is the dumbest thing Jerry has ever done ....... and that is saying a lot.

yeah i just read the snippet and had the same response. Werder was determined to "report" this as credible regardless of what his Cowboys "source" told him.

Agree on all points. But yes it seems far fetched.
