This is a team PR explanation. The Jones boys are simply not comfortable bringing in people they haven't worked with previously. They don't want strangers in the building. When MM surprised Jones by choosing not to come back, the team wasn't prepared for a coaching search. So, they did the Rooney interviews and settled on 2 previous coordinators. Schott probably got the job over Moore b/c he was in the building more recently. It is ABSURD to only interview 4 guys for a job this big.

We have an anchor on this franchise at the QB position — we are forced to endure an incompetent buffoon at HC for four years because he at least will keep our remedial QB from having to learn a new offense. Dak’s contract is a curse on this franchise.

The Cowboys decided to promote OC Brian Schottenheimer over waiting for former OC Kellen Moore - coaching NFC Championship Game with Eagles Sunday - at least partly because they viewed his personality as more capable of commanding the room in terms of demanding accountability and establishing leadership.

Continuity of offensive system and positive history with Dak Prescott other factors.

Anchor for this franchise at QB? Wow!!! What we have is a buffoon as an owner and at QB.
