We have an anchor on this franchise at the QB position — we are forced to endure an incompetent buffoon at HC for four years because he at least will keep our remedial QB from having to learn a new offense. Dak’s contract is a curse on this franchise.

The Cowboys decided to promote OC Brian Schottenheimer over waiting for former OC Kellen Moore - coaching NFC Championship Game with Eagles Sunday - at least partly because they viewed his personality as more capable of commanding the room in terms of demanding accountability and establishing leadership.

Continuity of offensive system and positive history with Dak Prescott other factors.

Bingo. His was all about making Dakky Poo happy.

THIS WAS ALL ABOUT DAK, damn who didn't know that! Lol, got to protect our 60 million dollar investment
But they’re not protecting him. That’s why this move is so disheartening. Why pay Dak 60 million and CD 35 million just to hire a career assistant coach for little money.

This is all about Stephen and possibly Jerry and their bizarre psychosis with the HC position. I really truly believe Jerry never emotionally recovered from Jimmy Johnson not including him in the coaches’ toast in March of 94 and he’s resented coaches ever since. It’s like he will never allow a coach to have the power to snub him from anything and the Dave Campos/Brian Schottenheimers of the world bring him comfort.

What’s really depressing is this seems to be more Stephen and if it is we have no future and nothing to hope for. The only chance we have is if Jerry goes away and under Stephen’s watch the franchise starts losing money and the other siblings force a sale. So on the bright side going 3-14 for the next 3 to 4 years may be what we need for long term hope.

What I don't understand is that if everything was about enabling Dak, then why don't we ever sign any free agents? Why did we trot Zeke out there last year? Why did we start two rookies on the OL?

This whole 'we need to do it for Dak' stuff is crap. The Joneses are doing this because he's the cheapest available option. Continuity with Dak is just a plus to them, not the point of the hiring.
It’s bullcrap that’s why. It’s lazy reporting and lazy work by the front office. The media just takes it for face value and never follow up with questions that would question that BS narrative.

I don't think its double standard at all, especially with Eric. Andy Reid did his damnest to prepare groom Eric for HC job. He actually gave him play calling duties and when help get a the job as the Commanders OC but in the end Eric's lack of leadership skills cost him. I'm sure he knew Reid's playbook as good as Reid but getting players to buy in and trust you completely different.
So it’s a leadership skill you say. Cause you’re in the meetings and at practice and all other things to question his leadership skills.

And I still think his rookie season was his most efficient/best season. I don’t just look at stats. But it’s all good and I know we all want team success over individual success. I hope Dak comes back healthy and would like him to lose a few pounds.
It was the case during the two seasons he was used correctly.

At some point…I’m not sure exactly who but I have my suspicions….someone decided he should be a pocket passer and the offense be built around him in that manner.

Just like your Romo. At least Dak is fully dedicated to football and has given the Cowboys more opportunities at the playoffs.
Sure working with JG as the head coach, you’re too funny. You must of Missed Dak playing golf and fishing, and wearing his hat backwards.

Positive history with dak?

Erm...

Did i miss something in the last 9 years regarding our QB? Was there ever something positive he accomplished? Playoffs? NFCC? SB? Anyone, help me out please.

Or does that mean that they have a great relationship on a more... emotional basis? Maybe Dak is trying to hide something with his engagement with a woman!?

This was pretty much obvious. Dak’s contract was a disaster for this franchise.

Also, Dak only had 2 years with Moore without MM. Than McCarthy was brought in and he originally brought in Bob McAdoo as an offensive consultant and than the next year, Schottenheimer became one. These are all MM ties.

No self respecting person would take Dak over TR, I wasn’t a big TR supporter but Dak is more Hollywood than Romo ever was
To be fair, I did have a VIP table next to Romo in Hollywood back in 05 for Metal Skool. That was pretty Hollywood.

So they wanted the continuity of suckage.

A team that wants to win always emphasizes true competition— a meritocracy which results in putting the best players on the field.

I find it ironic. The clown car paid another clown in the passenger seat far too much unworthy of it money, and now they’re on a crash course to the circus with him.

Ten years ago they started to coddle Dak by refusing to have him compete for his position with Romo. So they wanted cheap then, and now they’re saddled with expensive now.

They get what they deserve because the clowns who run the team don’t have to “compete” for their positions in an NFL monopoly.

Like I said before, when reflecting on his management of the team for the past thirty years, it’s a wonder how Jerry ever made his money to buy the team.

Good ole boys network.
Do you know the "Roman Empire"? do you know why the Romans build the Colosseo?
(I'm Italian) they build the Colosseo for there "show"...
Jerrah build his "colosseo"( stadium) and put HIS puppets( Deon, Dak,Cedee.....)in....he knew that " the CIRCUS" is going to give a
great reward!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....concerts, wrestling, NCAA etc...JUST A BUSINESS
Jerry's "clown" want to be paid to be a clown...mister 60 mil don't care about win a SB!!!

McCarthy left largely because he and Dak don't get along at all. Reports have surfaced to that effect.

Other coaching candidates also don't want anything to do with Dak and his contract and limitations.

Shotty was all that was left.
