There are many ways the Cowboys could have ended up 6-2. Let's be blunt: We've had many favorable things go our way this year thus far.

If the Cowboys had beaten the Commanders, but failed to convert that 3rd-and-20 with a near-impossible Terrance Williams tiptoe catch against Seattle two weeks ago, the Cowboys would probably be 6-2 right now.

If the Cowboys had beaten the Commanders, but failed to mount a franchise-best comeback from 21 points down against St. Louis five weeks ago, the Cowboys would be 6-2 right now.

If the Cowboys had beaten the Commanders, but failed to convert that 3rd-and-9 against Houston with a spectacular Dez catch three weeks ago, the Cowboys could very well be 6-2 right now.

Fact is, if we look at it objectively, we're lucky to be 6-2 instead of 5-3.

The Cowboys went 0-4 in preseason. Back then, if someone had told you that the Cowboys would be 6-2 and atop the NFC East at the mid-season point:

Lose to 49ers
Defeat Titans
Defeat Rams
Defeat Saints
Defeat Texans
Defeat Seahawks
Defeat Giants

Lose to Commanders

I think 90%, if not 99% of Zone posters would have said, "Yes, I'll take it."
