It's true, but I just feel like he's a progress stopper. Let's go young, cut McClain and Hayden, and let it ride with Coleman and Bishop at 1Tech.

With a team that has superbowl aspirations there has to be a balance between veterans and pups.

I do expect Hayden to play drastically fewer snaps this year.

Good all around.

This would be a colossal mistake. For starters, even if we kept Hayden and McCain, we likely have room for Coleman or Bishop. Second, it would nit be absurd to cut McClain because quite frankly, we can't depend on him to stay healthy. However, we absolutely should not go into the season without an experienced 1 tech. We've never seen them handle more a few snaps. If the two show more long term promise, cut McClain and keep them both, but they need to show that they are better than Hayden before we release him.

I don't think they would miss a beat if Bishop replaced Hayden.

Coleman would worry me a little. He flashes excellent physical ability, but still appears to abandon the requirements of the scheme at times. He would definitely be a much better pressure player against the pass than Hayden but he is not always disciplined against the run.

I like T. McClain ability and IMO he could be really good if 100% healthy; however, it's beginning to look like he can't stay healthy.

If they did cut McClain, there is a chance that he would remain available for awhile.

Hayden would definitely remain available if cut.

How many snaps does Hayden play a game, and what is the most Bishop has played? I'm not sure of either number, but I'm pretty sure there is a big difference.

Why does that matter? George Selvie played way more NFL game than Randy Gregory.

Bishop had more tackles in 1 playoff game than Hayden had in 2 games combined. Bishop is stronger and quicker.

Bills are looking for DL right now. Instead of cutting "quality" players, why not get something if possible. I'm sure other teams can use "quality" DL too.

Even if we got nothing but 7th rounders I'd be happy. You can never have enough because there is always someone you want.

I still think one of the DTs is traded at the end of Preseason for a conditional 7th, and the shock waves will be felt throughout this forum.

From the OP, this would be my pick for the DL at the start of the season:

Hardy*

1. Lawrence
2. Mincey
3. Gregory
4. Gardner
5. Crawford
6. Crawford
7. Hayden
8. Bishop
9. McClain
10. Russell

Edwards is cut and Coleman is traded for a conditional 7th. When Hardy returns Russell moves to the Practice Squad

What's it going to be then, eh?

I have little doubt Marinelli views Hayden as more dependable.

He quite simply does not miss time and probably has more stamina than Bishop does at this point.

Sometimes that kind of thing matters more than the flash here and there.

It matters because over the course of a 16 game regular season, I'm not convinced that Bishop can log the amount of snaps that Hayden can without getting injured or wearing down and being significantly less effective. While Selvie and Hayden may be similar in what you would expect from them, relative to their roles on the team, there is clearly no comparison between Bishop and Gregory.

Bishop had more tackles in 1 playoff game than Hayden had in 2 games combined. Bishop is stronger and quicker.

And Clutts has more playoff TDs than Dez and Witten combined, too small a sample size to make a judgement.
