We're in trouble if we don't fix this Pass Rush

In some ways the lack of pass rush yesterday wasn't a huge surprise.

With the acquisition of Josh Sitton along with Kyle Long the Bears probably have the best pair of pass blocking guards in the entire NFL.

The lack of pass rush from the outside is what is going to kill this team in the long run.

Jack Crawford, Tyrone Crawford and Mayowa are NOT DE's. DAVID IRVING-i don't care where he is lined up. He needs to play alot more. RYAN DAVIS 75 is the solution at RDE. What's wrong with our staff not identifying the obvious better talent? Terrell McClain, Maliek Collins, Ryan Davis and David Irving are the better 3 DLman and Rushmen. Find a better rotation...

The best part about finding our future QB, other than actually succeeding in finding a franchise QB , is that we can now invest first round picks in the defense over the next couple of years instead of trying to hit on a QB high in the draft. Ideally, with the first and second round picks over the next two years going towards the defense, plus some strategic free agent signing, hopefully the D is legit in 2 years

And while I can't prove it seems to me the secondary is covering much better than it has in the last few seasons which has resulted in the QB having to hold the ball that much longer and making the pass rush appear even worse.

I agree. I'm pretty much sitting there in disbelief many pass plays at how long a QB sits in the pocket against this D. This means the coverage is good, but you can't cover forever. I also don't see many stunts etc. Seems like a couple guys try to bullrush and get stymied, and one or another will try a spin that goes nowhere. I guess this is to prevent getting gashed by a run or opening the middle of the pocket, but good god...

Wouldn't better coverage on the back end make them better? If anything, that is solidifying that they're terrible. It's no appearance.

Just another case where we know we have a glaring problem and basically ignore it in the offseason. It will have to totally bite us, which it will, before we will try and do something about it.

Hopefully next spring we go all in on the pass rush and defense overall. Right now I'd be looking at all defense and a WR in the first 3-4 rounds of the draft.

Dungy & Harrision certainly where not complementary of our secondary on the pre game show.

Then at halftime Harrision said something along the lines that the Bears did not seem into the game.

I think the secondary has played pretty well, like to see them play with pass rush.

It would if you had someone that could consistently apply pressure.

Slow your roll a bit on Davis being the solution. I hope he pans out but he's far from the solution at this point.

No sacks and no tackles.

He's a part time player. He has one job. Pressure the QB.

At 37, he does that better than anyone on our active roster. Oh and he had a sack tonight.

He was a no brainier signing for this team. He actually came cheap too.
