I hear people say that "we don't appreciate what we have" and must have forgotten about "the QBs between Aikman and Romo".

We're still there. It's just a little prettier.

It's time for this organization to take the QB position seriously again. I'd much rather be on the QB search than be handcuffed to a QB that requires everything to be perfect around him. The margin for error in roster building is incredibly small with a QB of Dak Prescott's skill level. We have to hit on everything to succeed with Dak at QB and that takes a lot of smarts and luck.

You're not going to draft the next Patrick Mahomes if you handcuff yourself to Alex Smith.

Jethro can sell the hell out of 12-5.

It’s not worth hitting rock bottom to draft the next stud at QB.
The Chiefs made the playoffs the year they drafted Mahomes.

Imagine if they said "Ya know, Alex Smith gets us to the playoffs and we should be thankful for that much".

You don't have to hit rock bottom. You just have to be willing to make moves.

Agree completely but Dak can’t be moved for two more seasons. His contract just doesn’t allow it. I’m all for drafting a guy though and getting him ready for 2025.
Coincidentally, he'll be roughly the same age Alex Smith was when the Chiefs drafted Mahomes

I’m all for using high draft capital for a QB. Why do you think our owner is content with the QB’s he’s had this era?

He loves Romo like a son. Him and Garrett are Jerry's guys.

I don't know if he's as content with Dak right now. I just think Dak has a contract he can't get out of right now.

Because he can't get out from under that horrible contract right now.

Jerry sucks too, but he ain't going anywhere.
And the fact he isn’t going anywhere is the bigger issue.

And our focus in attacking him holding him responsible shouldn’t deter simply cause he’s not going anywhere.

He is afterall the one who paid the big contract.

But you’re ignoring why Jethro is content with a QB like Dak.

I'm sort of in the same boat...although Dak is clearly better than anything the Cowboys had between the Aikman-Romo days. For that reason I am not eager to get rid of Dak without some plan B in mind, but I also don't think you pass up someone you really like because of Dak. Personally, I think you either have an elite QB or you should always be on the look for one. I think the Cowboys can win with Dak, but give me a Burrow, Mahomes, etc and I'm not setting myself up mentally for a letdown as I am now.

If the Cowboys get an Aaron Rodgers situation in the draft this year I'm all for taking it. If the Cowboys find a mid round guy they want to develop for 2025 they should go for it. It's really just a matter of how everything else falls. The problem is these situations don't happen every year. Sounds like the Cowboys were close last year with Sam Howell, but Washington got to him first.

What I'm not a huge fan of is going the Colts route and continuing to bring in vet QB after vet QB, giving up draft capital and being disappointed every year.

I was actually jealous of the Football Team yesterday with Sam Howell. Would love to have that guy playing QB here.
